It's not that bad. A legendary coach died on active duty, Keenum made a huge mistake by prompting an extremely inexperienced D coordinator, we're still trying to dig out. We were coming off a 9 win season and would have had another 9 win season in 2023.
Baseball, were a regional team two years in a row (with a chance to make a home run hire that will set us up for the next 10 years) and each year of Jans' three years we're a tourney team, with our best player returning. Yes, we've underachieved in both baseball and basketball, but near were near rock bottom.
If we can get to 6 wins, or more by 2026, football will be on the right path, the schedule is brutal this season, so as long as we get 4 or 5, it will show improvement.
The next stage of Salmon's career/upward mobility rests on this hire, he's not going to fail, he will hire one of our top 4 (BOC, Bakich, Fitz or Waz). If he misses up this hire, he can kiss bigger jobs (and possibility this one) goodbye, unless Levee makes a dramatic turnaround.
