Wonder how much he cost?

Sounds like Gators being salty and making excuses for why they are losing a key piece off their title team honestly.

He absolutely left bc UF prioritized spending on an incoming guard and assumed they’d retain their current roster for an incumbent discount.

But the “this will likely be his highest paid year as a basketball player” comment is passive aggressive shade.

It’s also not been a secret that Pope and staff haven’t offered outrageous money in other examples when it could have swayed a player.

Would still love to land Hawthorne as a nice LT piece. Of course he may be looking at just where he would get minutes and decide to go elsewhere. If so, I can understand. But, it would be nice.

What was he asking UF? Is that why he left UF? $$$$?
Im sure pope paid him 1.5 or so the money he had for Wilkerson. The intangibles (experience. Title, etc) and need at the pg back up and to push lowe he will be a good fit. I still think pope goes for another shooter. Pope knows he’s oh so close and went for the best value left. We absolutely needed another starting caliber pg and a leader with energy and coming off a title is great. He will be a role player but. A super important one.

I see him as slight undersized replacement for JR. He can handle a bit , just like Jr, can shoot from outside ( maybe not as good as JR but room enough room to improve) and maybe better a seeking contact. He is FT %. is not great and freshman year he bear,y take any 3 shots…. I think he is still growing into his shooting so room to get better.

He is athletic enough and decent defender so good get.

Does this count as the shooter everyone says we need? 33% for his career with less than one made three per game.

Seems like we still need a guy who is a proven 3 point threat

Aberdeen fits the roster needs better.
Ready another post from Sisk on X that says we may take Griffen too. Wow! What a roster!

A much better add overall than Lamar Wilkerson in my opinion, much more versatile, a better athlete, fills the role of big-time back-up PG and undertands playing within the team concept for a winning program in the SEC, not taking all the shots for a 6-12 (in conference) C-USA team ...And: He played in the National Championship against Houston...not for SAM Houston.

Thanks for overpaying for "I Wanna Be The Man" Wilkerson Hoosiers. This is why you are who you are.

Between Collin Chandler, Jasper Johnson, Trent Noah and Travis Perry, Coach Pope will have a shooter.

At least one of those and possibly more will be able to fill that role when needed.

UK dishing out the $
It's interesting that Kentucky keeps landing premium players. Not long ago, there were many questions about whether or not the wittle ole state of Kentucky could compete with the big, bad major media markets in the NIL game.

And now both UK and Louisville have two of the top 10 NIL packages in the game.
