What would it take for everyone to just be happy once? Good lord, we are ridiculously stacked.
I can see where some may think this. There are different ways to build a roster. You can build a deep team with 10 or so interchangeable parts, which is what I believe Pope did with this squad. Or you can have a heavier talented starting lineup with more big additions like a Haggerty or Ian Jackson, which would lead to a far less talented roster from 6-10 off the bench. There is no wrong way to build a team and hopefully this is the correct recipe for next year with this bunch. I am getting excited now. However, I do wonder what it would be if we would have closed the deal on one of the elite type players like Yaxel, Ian Jackson or Haggerty instead of the 2 or 3 really solid pieces we seemed to have added instead. Pilgrim said there was talk that griffin was taking the visit to Kentucky on Tuesday with plans to commit
I like both players, but Aberdeen can play point guard, and he's a better defender than Griffen. Both are comparable shooters.

This is a huge pickup, and will be an experience upgrade from Lewis as our backup.

My best guess about rotation:

G - Lowe - Johnson - Perry
G - Aberdeen - Chandler - Johnson
G - Oweh - Williams - Noah
F - Mo D - Jelavic - JQ
C - JQ - Garrison - Moreno

That's just absurd depth. I only put JJ as the backup at point guard due to Pope trying to keep him "fed." Aberdeen would be the natural backup point guard but I just can't see Pope playing Johnson as strictly a third-string guard.

I love having Jasper Johnson be given the chance to develop over the course of two years, before he likely leaves for the NBA as a sophomore or maybe even a junior.

Someone in the know said word on the street was that UK's NIL is about double what many were reporting.

If true, we're going to be landing premium talent for years to come!

We wouldn't make it to the second weekend with those numbers.
Might want to check the final scores of the last 5 years Elite 8 games thru the championship game. I know the last 4 NC games the highest score was 76, UCONN scored. SEVERAL games the last 5 years was WELL below what you suggest.
2025 Florida 65 Houston 63
2024 UCONN 75 Purdue 60
2023 UCONN 76 SD State 59
2022 Kansas 72 UNC 69
So actually 70 points would have been enough to win the last 4 championship games, hell 64 would have won 3 of them. Look it up, SEVERAL games from the Sweet 16, Elite 8, Final 4 of those years was much of the same. The 98-95 games do not happen often when you get past the first two round blowouts of 14,15,16 seeded teams.

$20 million is crazy. But honestly I love to see it. This is what it's going to take to win. And hopefully if we can make some runs in the coming seasons, this money will be there too.
You and I were wondering how much NIL UK would have available, and you were wondering if Kentucky could compete against the major media markets when NIL first became a thing.

It looks like those questions are being answered in real time. Kentucky has the resources because Kentucky people care more than anyone else.

That matters and will always matter.

Love that lineup and it's going to be hard as hell to score on them and it gives us 2 players that can play PG on the floor at the same time. I'm ready for 25-26 season!

I haven't been this excited about a Kentucky team since 2014-2015.

The depth on this team feels like 1995-level (that team earned a 1 seed). This team actually looks deeper.

Lots of very good pieces, with no definitive star player, but certainly a team that can come at opponents in waves and break them down psychologically.

Great size and defender, too. Our team won’t light it up from three as many times next year but we are going to beat a lot of teams with defense, talent, and depth.
Just like the two teams Rick had when Pope played here. Tremendous depth and talent. I just watched the 96 first round game against San Jose State and Pitino played 12 guys in the first half. They completely wore that team out. Delk was the leader in minutes played that year at 28 per game. There is room for everyone.

My friend there are different degrees of happiness, like there are different levels of richness.

I think Kentucky fans should definitely feel happy. I mean teams don’t even have the starting line up and we are arguing over this player over that player. It’s nice to be a Kentucky fan these days,

Not sure what any of this has to do with the post I replied to.
He said he didn't care if we had the 70th rated offense, just as long as our defense held opponents in the 60's.
If our offense is rated in the 70's, we're not beating any team that is capable of getting to a sweet 16 and with numbers like that, we would be seeded pretty low, probably an 8 seed, maybe worse.

Hey, I have no problem changing my opinions as new information is presented. Certainly seems like we have someone(s) or somethings backing us financially. And that's great to see. It has always been my biggest question in regards to Kentucky basketball moving forward in this NIL era. We have the fanbase, we have the basketball history, we just need to make sure we have the finances as well.. and it appears we do. Much more than I originally thought.

I am very happy to be wrong on this one.

Does this count as the shooter everyone says we need? 33% for his career with less than one made three per game.

Seems like we still need a guy who is a proven 3 point threat
Chandler 48% when he became a rotation player
Mo D 46%
Williams 41%
Oweh 36%
Aberdeen 35%

Plus Johnson, Noah, Perry, Jelavic, who will also probably hover around 35% next year.

The defense will likely be in the top 20. The offense might not finish in the top 5-10 again, but it will be in the top 20.

The goal is to have a top 20 offense and defense, and this team will almost certainly find its way into both areas.
