Really surprising pick up for Pope based on what I watched of Kentucky last year. I’ll be very interested if Pope gets him to change his style a little bit or if Pope just wanted some added athleticism length.

Great size and defender, too. Our team won’t light it up from three as many times next year but we are going to beat a lot of teams with defense, talent, and depth.
I don't have an issue if our Offensive efficiency dips into the 70's so long as our defensive efficiency keeps our opponents in the 60's

Coach Pope wants to play faster and needs more athletes that can defend AND run to do it. His system is similar to the Gators, so Aberdeen was a no brainer!!

Can’t wait to see our team with the athletes needed to play at a high pace with pressure defense.

I don't know what "developmental pieces" means in 2025. If you get someone else who is capable of getting minutes at all you very much run the risk of running someone else off. And if they aren't capable of getting minutes (outside of blowout situations) you're asking the kid to hang around not only this year but next year as well - which I don't think is a reasonable expectation in the portal era.

We already have 10 rotation kids and 3 others (Moreno, Perry, Noah) who will be fighting for time. No room at the inn for others......
You never stop recruiting in today's landscape imo

Looks like we got what we all felt like we needed, and Aberdeen being available this late in the portal cycle, with all the intangibles the staff is looking for .... Good Lord, what a monster roster !

(I said wayyyyy back in January, after the awesome start, just before the injury situation killed us, when we were a possible 1 seed projection .... "We will be preseason top 5 after CMP gets his roster NEXT year" .... looking at the landscape now, I can see why Houston and Purdue would be projected 1,2. Kentucky solidly sits at #3 looking at it on paper, just like I felt - and said - we would be.)

And it's not like preseason rankings mean squat .... Yet the roster look has the feel of a final four contender from the very start next year. And I said ALL ALONG to have faith and trust in Coach Pope. He loves Kentucky basketball, breathes and lives it every bit as much and more - than the fans do. Is everyone finally convinced now ? Personally, I feel even better now, having a simple faith and trust in Coach Pope that we would be in good hands for a LONG time.

Proof ain't only in the puddin' any longer ... for BBN, it's in the ....

BOOM !!!!

Go Big Blue !

PS - and who wouldn't be surprised for yet another addition ? It got crazy talented here in a hurry, didn't it ?

Im sure pope paid him 1.5 or so the money he had for Wilkerson. The intangibles (experience. Title, etc) and need at the pg back up and to push lowe he will be a good fit. I still think pope goes for another shooter. Pope knows he’s oh so close and went for the best value left. We absolutely needed another starting caliber pg and a leader with energy and coming off a title is great. He will be a role player but. A super important one.
But, but... Jasper was the one to step in as the other PG! Does this mean Pope didn't have that much confidence about this idea? I'm glad we won't have to rely on JJ soaking up PG minutes so he can do what he does best.

Does Pope know there is only 1 basketball? How are all these guys going to work together?

Kidding.
Pretty sure this is a direct quote by one of our “always pessimistic” posters that we’re clamoring about missing in players 2 weeks ago

If only Mark Pope knew as much about judging talent -- POTENTIAL TO BE A MAJOR COLLEGE STAR, not just what your stats were last year, and how to put the pieces together on a roster to compete at the highest level as you apparently do.

Ah well, we'll have to muddle through with Pope for now I guess.
You are a weird dude. If only everyone could live up to your level of fandom

I am not criticizing Pope or Aberdeen, I already said it was a huge get.

If you don't think it's crazy that a guy like him is getting $2+ million then I don't know what to tell you.

What would it take for everyone to just be happy once? Good lord, we are ridiculously stacked.

There is a large touch of irony here. You're using a made up number that no one knows is true to call others weird and complain. Not a good look.

I think his substitution pattern will keep fresh legs on the floor. Running the team until they are begging to sub out. We have a front court that will get stops and rebounds, we will run and gun. Plenty of minutes for everyone. JMO
As long as there isn't a string of injuries, Pope's substitution patterns will work to perfection next season.
It will be nice to sub A level guys with other A level guys.

Dude we have a top 3 roster for next year. Mostly all done without major reliance, on high school, recuriting rankings. And you're crying because we paid 2 million, for Todd Golden's probable lead guard for next year. And a guy who just won a NCAA title.
