According to article in the Tennesseean and Marcello, MSU could get bumped.

maybe get ready to bend over...see it coming. On the other hand..Gator now knows that State travels well. I don't know if Vandy does or not. It may be that we are seen as deserving of a screwing after not showing up in four of our last five games. Yes, three of those four are you know who, but still we seemed noncompetitive to some observers.

As discussed in the other thread - its not against any rules. But it would be highly frowned upon for the MCB to takes a 6 win team over an 8 win team.

The gator bowl would be insane to take vandy over us. We'll bring more to Jacksonville than vandy can bring to a home game. But stranger things have happened...

Over/under on attendance for any Vandy vs Big 10 team matchup in Florida would be 40k. 30k if it's Northwestern.
As I said elsewhere, the Gator Bowl isn't stupid.

I think a Wisconsin win in the Big 10 Championship helps our Gator Bowl case. That knocks Northwestern down to the Gator Bowl, and a Vandy/NW game in Florida would be a disaster as far as attendance goes. Also, they've already played this season.

Which bowl would pit MSU vs a CUSA or Sun Belt team. That would be the best chance for a W.

Only way we get screwed is if the SEC gets involved. Gator will want to take us over Vandy, which is fine. The problem is that the MCB would then strongly prefer Ole Miss to Vandy, which would put an 8-4 vandy team that beat ole miss in the MCB. The SEC should do try to not let that happen, as it kind of makes the whole bowl system look like a joke. Just like when we were rumored to be getting the shaft in 2010. Not sure if it was really that close to happening, but it appeared that the bowls were going to completely ignore records to pick strictly by who they felt would sell the most tickets and be the most favorable to tv revenues.

Not sure the SEC can really stop it or will want to stop it, but if it can convince the Gator to take Vandy, the Music City Bowl would likely (and smartly) take a 6-6 team that is excited about their season over an 8-4 team that all of the sudden has no 17ing clue on offense and hasn't had a clue on defense all year. That's before you even take into account the fact that we were there last year and also just got our *** kicked to finish the season.

I'm still Old School about this subject. The way we've finished down the stretch, I don't feel like we deserve any bowl game. If we'd come roaring home to go 8-4 I'd be hoping for some protection from Birmingham but, as it stands, we played like **** and deserve whatever we get.

Maybe that's a detrimental attitude formed back before every team in the land that beat Troy, USM and Pillow Academy got a bowl game, but that's how I feel about it. We're qualified to bowl so we should do our duty - use the extra practice time, fill the slot, cash the check - but I haven't seen much in the past few weeks that deserves to be truly rewarded.

The data pool is pretty shallow on Vandy and bowls. They just broke 57k in the Liberty Bowl last year. That was a nice 2:30 kickoff on a Saturday, versus Cincinnati, so not exactly a small-name opponent. That's a respectable number given their reputation, but certainly not great, and definitely less than we would bring.
