If you read deep into the article about the new school board's weekend meeting, looks like they may bring back the idea of re-opening Oakboro and Ridgecrest and closing Albemarle.

I can't explain anymore how I feel about Albemarle. I have heard that it's not the same Albemarle that I used to be a big Fan of. I have nothing against anyone's opinion about the School anymore. We Love AHS and will back it till it's gone. If Anyone wants to say anything bad about the future of Albemarle Football then know I will say Something.

Hopefully it didn't come across that I was downing Albemarle.
I just saw that small tid-bit in the article. Par for the politics of Stanly County. Melvin and his crew roped the backers of keeping Albemarle open along with Oakdale to get elected, now it appears they could turn their back on those Albermarle voters.

Those days may be long gone, but those good memories will last a lifetime...

Regardless of what they do or what they say about AHS, I've had a great time graduating from there... but closing AHS isn't going to fix the education issue in Stanly County. Certain corporations won't even touch Stanly County as far as Tech jobs go and other skilled specific jobs...before it's over, there will be only 1 school in Stanly County..

That is exactly what is going to happen. It is now "The Melvin Poole Board of Education". He promised the voters what they wanted to heard to get elected. He is still and always will be for the Western end of the county...There will be no stopping him this time..Mark my words people.....

Politics make strange bedfellows. Western Stanly group cozied up to the South Albemarle community. Be careful who you trust.

Trusting Poole would be like trusting Hitler.........
In one of the issues in the SNAP last week former principal at Albemarle Lynn White wrote a letter to the editor and he hit the nail on the head with his comments about Melvin Poole and Albemarle High School.

I'm not sure what article you are referring too. I didn't see or have I heard anything about them closing albemarle. I encourage you unless you know facts not to post anything like that because it makes it harder from a scheduling standpoint. Which was due to a person talking that should have not been and knew AHS was not closing when this was stated.

Oakboro is being reopened as a choice school. Apparently they have the backing of the entire community and communities surrounding it to do so with the member of the community willing to donate and put in labor to get the school back open.

He did not write Albemarle was being shut.

Just as I wrote here when this began to transpire is the western Stanly group is all about helping the other schools as long as it helps them. I understand that but it is a county wide school system and things need to be somewhat equal. Let's watch it play out and see.

I read the review of the SCS BOE meeting and spoke to an attendee. Appears they made three notions to push the Endy district line back toward Albemarle. It was defeated but the person I spoke with said that will most likely get passed but was not sure if it goes back to its former location or the city limits line or in between.

With Oakboro reopening the plan is to return the students that were sent to Aquadale and South Stanly back to West Stanly.

According to my conversations they want to take it to around the civic center area. Which makes sense tbh. I believe if that does happen they will look at other lines as well. I believe the days of not touching one part of the county are over. Just my opinion.

So was it written they were looking at closing the school or just his thoughts?

I didn't make it up, I was quoting what was written in the article. At the weekend work session for the current BOE the option of reopening Oakboro and Springfield and closing Albemarle was discussed. Not that it was happening. Although they just voted to reopen Oakboro as some kind of alternative school. My point was more along the lines about trusting Poole. He was able to get those who didn't want to close Albemarle on his side, but now look what quietly ended up being discussed. Oh and look who was the only candidate that was a part of the keep the schools open group that was not elected... the Albemarle district lady...

Regarding the Endy district lines, there were three motions put forward by Glenda Gibson. The first week was to move the line back to its former spot. It was voted down. Immediately she made a second motion to move it to Canton Road. Voted down. Third was to move it to the city limits. Voted down. Two board members stated they were not 100% against any of the three but the wanted to see the numbers and revisit it next month. The Ag Civic Center was not mentioned specifically.

Simple to note, the two main items put up for motion would both return students to West Stanly Middle and High School taking areas from South and Albemarle. As those two schools lose enrollment it brings more speculation that one of them may become a focus for closing.

From the way Politicians think in Western Stanly County, They should be glad to offer up a Magnet School in one of Their area Schools. JMO

You say that as if part of that would not to be to move any of the other lines? 1) if you move the line they are discussing it's not going to be that big of a difference to AHS. 2) There will be in my opinion a true redistricting of
The county, unlike last time there will not be one school that goes untouched.

There may be a total redistricting but the first two and only items voted on at the meeting regarding districting were the two I cited above.
