Crazy how things work out for kids. This would have never happened had he not decided to sit out his sophomore year in order to transfer away from North Stokes. Great decision by he and his family.

We have a lot of talent within a few miles at East Surry, Mt Airy and West Stokes. I haven't seen a receiver any better than #13 Parsons for West. Is he getting offers?

I'm going to ask an ignorant question. What is the process for accepting PWO? Is there a letter of intent on that or any binding commitment from the university?

what happened against winston salem prep, oldest gosnell didn’t do much
He didn’t need to Prep was honestly just terrible team. A lot of running the ball was done in this game with mostly short passes not many deep shots where he thrives.

you don’t stagger into the hall of fame. This teams overachieving. When he gets his guys with these coaches unc will be playing in acc championship next year.

I’ll give you that. He was one heck of a coach a really long time ago.

You might be right about the second part too. Winning the coastal is like being the tallest midget.

I think Mack will have the heels as a top 25 team.

Yep. If he gets enough 5 stars, the coaching won’t matter. Just look at FSU... oh wait
Yeah, UNC is legendary for underachieving with top-level athletes. The last time in 30 years that the Tarheels actually performed up to the level of their recruiting was during the first Mack Brown regime.

I keep hearing how they have turned around recruiting, but haven’t they had a top 25 class nearly every year in the past 30-40 years? And absolutely nothing to show for it since the league expanded past 7 teams.

You are aware that they played Clemson in the ACC Title game in 2015 right?? That is a long ways removed from the first Mack Brown Era. I swear some of you just get on here and type stuff that you think makes you sound smart without doing any research. Could have easily won that game if the refs knew what offsides actually was on an onside kick, but thats neither here nor there.

Since 2000 UNC has had 5 Top 25 classes. Average class ranking just inside the Top 30. People make up this imaginary thought that UNC has always recruited like some juggernaut team, and that just isn't the case.

Huge difference in 25th and 29th. What is the difference, a 2 star punter?

Yes, I’m aware that they didn’t win the acc and got smoked by Baylor in a bowl game. That was the same year, right?

The average is 29...most years they were out of the top 30. They got aided by two years where they were 12 and 10...reading isn't your strong suit huh?

I read pretty well. I don’t research uNC football well, though. What is their worst recruiting year, since you seem to have it available.

Since they started keeping records, 2000 was probably the worst year as they finished outside of the top 50. They actually didn't do rankings past 45th team in the country, so there are multiple teams listed as tied for 44th. 2002 UNC was ranked 49th in recruiting. 11-2 record in 2015 is a record that I am sure 99% of the football teams in America would take. We lost the bowl game, no doubt, but doe not take away from the fact that we won 11 games.

So, it would be safe to say the worst recruiting class uNC had was middle of the ACC and most were top half. That’s still pretty good.

As a fan, do you attribute such poor results, when compared to recruiting, to coaching or something else all together?

Some highly-rank players don’t perform as expected whether due to injuries, off the field issues, or poor work ethics.

There were several in the Fedora era that didn’t do as expected. I believe it could be a combo of both.

Deacs...look at your star WR...he was a 2-star but playing like a 5-star now. :)

Figuring out what a high school kid is going to be able to do vs 22 and 23 year old men must be a tough job! I guess that is why they make the big bucks!
