In my Clinton voice: I'd top it!But we got Natasha Bedingfield for Bulldog Bash! Who can top that***
AgreedLord Huron alone is worth seeing on that bill
Who?
They’ve been hosting shows the past 3 years or so and from top to bottom this lineup might be the best one…
Ohio State has an enrollment of over 60,000 and Columbus has a metro population over 2,000,000. The risk is much smaller to put on a concert like that. This compares to an enrollment of about 25,000 and the Golden Triangle population of about 130,000
Auburn, Oxford, Stillwater etc etc etc all have done it. This isn't some big city trend. But the fact it's in the stadium on a college campus also says something. Columbus has venues but this is on school property. State couldn't do a huge festival style concert weekend, but they we could easy host a big act.Ohio State has an enrollment of over 60,000 and Columbus has a metro population over 2,000,000. Plus, Ohio Stadium seats about 40,000 more people than Davis Wade. It’s about 100,000 vs 60,000 for football. Assumedly the difference would be the same for a concert, even if the setup and overall capacity is different.Ohio State has an enrollment of over 60,000 and Columbus has a metro population over 2,000,000. Red Clay Strays!! Yes! The rest..not so much
Keep making excuses...You can't tell me this concert wouldn't have a MASSIVE amount of people there. It's not just limited to Golden Triangle folks. hahahaOhio State has an enrollment of over 60,000 and Columbus has a metro population over 2,000,000. We regularly have 50-60k show up for a pretty underwhelming (lately) football team, you're telling me we couldn't have 60k show up for one concert on one night with the right headliner?Ohio State has an enrollment of over 60,000 and Columbus has a metro population over 2,000,000. Black Crows at the Amphitheater and Garth Brooks at The Hump in the early 90's as well...anyone remember Widespread Panic at the Amphitheater back in the 90s? Music Makers wasn't expecting that crowd! Do they not use the Amphitheater anymore?
If we booked Childers some on this board would protest the university because he’s “woke” now.
It's the venue size for the most part. The Hump just isn't big enough for big acts anymore.A concert in the Hump on a non football weekend would pull people. Honestly if you set it up for when Ole Miss doesn't have a home game then you get those students coming over also.
For whatever reason, Music Makers isn't pulling the acts it used to.
That Crows show was outstanding. So was Blues Traveler with the Allman Bros.Black Crows at the Amphitheater and Garth Brooks at The Hump in the early 90's as well...

I was going to say the same about the Strays. They're incredible live.Lord Huron alone is worth seeing on that bill
According to my daughter, they're blocking off half of The Hump for the Bulldog Bash concert. It's PLENTY big enough to draw bigger acts. It's the venue size for the most part. The Hump just isn't big enough for big acts anymore.
Saw the red Clay strays last night for the first time. If I could have swung it logistically, I would have stayed for nights 2 and 3.

I do. I was working the Russel St. Chevron at the time. The closest place to the amphitheater to buy beer. By the time I closed I had sold over $10,000 worth of beer. The only thing left were some bottles of king cobra and one single solitary case of Budwieser.anyone remember Widespread Panic at the Amphitheater back in the 90s? We had Bob Dylan one time at The Hump.Black Crows at the Amphitheater and Garth Brooks at The Hump in the early 90's as well...
I was at all of those. At MSU, I got a chance to see some great concerts. – Kansas, 38 Special, Huey Lewis, and Pat Benatar come to mind when I think of days going to music maker productions.
