Anyone heard a timeline for Cellsouth rolling out the iphone?

I know there is someone on here that either works for Cellsouth or has a relative that works for them.

My damn blackberry is on its last leg. I no longer get service at my house and have started dropping several calls a day. My wife's phone works great at the house, mine used to, and she never drops calls. I have been holding off getting a new one to avoid signing a new contract but I don't know how long I can make this blackberry last. The screen has even started getting dark on one side.

Hopefully someone on here has heard when the iphone will be out.

And yes, I realize Cellsouth has changed its name but I refuse to comply. I bet they will still cash my check made out to Cellsouth.

They are being told to tell people that they don't know when. And they truly have no clue when it will be released.

with S-Spire than you would with AT&T. It will be another iPhone debacle like Sprint. Won't be able to surf and talk at the same time. Can't send MMS pics. Would be better off to pay a little extra and go with AT&T and get a fully functioning phone.

I can send and receive MMS pics with my blackberry on Cellsouth now, why the hell would I not be able to on my iphone?

As for the surfing the web while talking, I don't give a ****. Have never had it nor have I ever had an instance where I needed to be able to do that. I guess I am missing the "half the functionability(and I am pretty sure you made that word up)" of the iphone you speak of on Cellular South.

I had an iphone with ATT and their service absolutely sucked. I drive over several states weekly for work and Cellsouth is by far the best option locally. Why anyone would pay the prices ATT charges to get the ****** services they provide with constant dropped calls and terrible customer service is beyond me.

I know you can't with AT&T anymore. But CSpire/csouth used to have an upper hand with that. I think you have to pay a different fee when you "stream" data. It goes into effect on November 1 (I think).

My friends with AT&T in MS say the service is terrible for them. How could Cell South's version be that much worse?<div>

AT&T had to add major infrastructure for them to be able to support MMS functionality with the iPhone. Sprint didn't and C Spire won't. I have had an iPhone for 4years now in central MS, have traveled all over the place and have never had service issues. I don't get my people keep saying this about AT&T. Just be sure you check to see what can and can't be done with C Spire's version.

Well that will suck the 0 times a year I need to surf while I talk. I do know is that at our houseboat in South Mississippi my ATT Blackberry (company provided) gets no signal and my mother's Cellular South phone has 5 bars.

My wife wants an I-phone through Cellular South and I called last week and was told to go to the website to register and that they would send an email to verify when it was available (estimated 3-4 weeks). I did and have not recieved the email yet.

. . . as whole, I also don't get the notion that AT&T is somehow the worst there is. We've had iphones for 3+ years w/ AT&T and find the service pretty reliable.<div>
</div><div>Once you accept that mobile phone service in general is an *** raping of consumers, AT&T is no worse than the others.</div><div>
</div><div>Edited to add: It is, however, useless ongame day at DWS.</div>

you won't make many friends on here defending AT&Ts service, but I've had them for 7 or 8 years now and I have never had problems... But like you say, when picking a Cell Phone provider, it's basically like picking the Al-Queda or the Taliban.

Define streaming. <div>
</div><div>I get the extra money for people that use their phone for a TV or radio. If they want a premium to see a youtube vid now and then, that would suck really bad.</div><div>

Same here, though I never had an iPhone. <div>
</div><div>I used to be in the industry. There are a lot of ****** phones out there, and users will blame the phone problems on their carrier (AT&T). Could it be that the iPhone just sucks?</div><div>
</div><div>Because I never had a problem using not-smartphones with AT&T.</div><div>
</div><div>I can tell you that phones that are just phones will run circles around smartphones when it comes to how well a phone performs at being just a phone.</div><div>

Is that picture messaging is like an extra 10 bucks a month on your bill, when every other carrier includes it free with text messaging. Thats way too much to pay for just a slight convenience, since i can just take a picture and email it from my phone.

Also, the new "streaming" plan is ********, that's so much more money per month. I bet 90% of people with unlimited data plans right now stream, since everything but simple browsing counts as streaming.

AT&T blows. I recently moved out of state, and had to switch carriers, I chose Verizon. Before I moved I used Cell South, and was very happy with it, but all of the news coming out about the changes being made with C Spire seem to be bad. Verizon works well here and in Mississippi. It is a little more expensive than Cell South was, but I am very satisfied with my coverage. <div>
</div><div>ETA: My iPhone does everything, and no matter what people tell you it is better than any Droid I ever had (including the Galaxy).</div>

I've had AT&T service for over 10 years now, and I've had the iphone for 4-5 years I guess. I NEVER drop calls...although there are two spots where I travel that I know it will drop if I'm on the phone. But I know where they are and I don't let it happen. Of course, if I'm out in BFE service is spotty regardless. But damn, do you really expect it to work good on some po-dunk road in the middle of nowhere?

I had ATT for a company phone and Cellsouth for personal and ATT was awful. I talk around 2500 minutes per month all over MS, LA, and AL. ATT would drop, on average 7-10 calls per day where Cellular south would drop, maybe, 2 calls per week.

I can tell you on my usual route to take the kids to school that I will drop a call 10 times out of 10. It was so bad in certain areas that I frequented, that I would have to tell the person I was talking to that I was about to drop them but I would call them right back.

ATT has major problems with switching towers in certain areas. It was not an issue of no service because it always showed sufficient signal stregth, it just dropped a ton of calls.

Customer service was some of the worst I have ever encountered.

I am not saying that Cell South was perfect but it was the best I have used. It got so bad with my company that we recently cancelled our company contract with ATT and switched to Verizon. In MS, LA, and AL, Verizon coverage is identical to Cell South and has been very well received by our employees.

I don't know if you guys with ATT don't drive around the state much or if you have just gotten used to the dropping of calls but this is a major problem with ATT.

Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile and CSpire all work fine... But when my friends come over with AT&T service, their phone may get one bar of service, maybe...
AT&T service sucks...

has outstanding coverage. Had two Droids but switched to iPhone a year ago. Won't go back! In my office, both AT&T iPhone guys have to leave the building to make a call.

Both kids live in the DC area and have iPhones with AT&T. Even there both have problem with signals especially while dirving.

Only AT&T advantage I know .. they work in Europe and my Verizon won't.

iPhone 4s from any company works worldwide. And a Verizon, Sprint or C Spire for the talk and surf --works great when you are at home or work on WiFi, just like the AT&T commercials... dumb move by AT&T<div>
</div><div>Gotta go with C Spire on this one for all the obvious reasons stated above.</div>

But it sucks in Oxford. I could hardly get reception at my house. And I don't do much surfing while talking. In fact, never.

AT&T is also markedly more expensive on the monthly bill.

But I personally just don't have the problems that people complain about all the time. Move to Starkville, AT&T works great here (except at Davis Wade on gameday).

Any data use to watch videos, listen to music, and downloading large files would be defined as streaming by CSpires new standard.

Doesn't work in my house in Madison either. The only person I personally know that does not have problems with ATT service is my father. Everyone else seems to think that dropping numerous calls per day is normal. I find that people that don't drop calls throughout the day usually work in the office all day and don't drive around on the phone that often. As I have said, ATT's main problem is switching towers.
