I've watched his clips and the kid is big and looks athletic. Anyone know why he's only listed as a two star prospect? Same with Gray. I don't see him being a two star player either but then again I'm no recruiting expert.

We need to go after O'korn first! This guy is perfect for our system. I think Dobbs is better at reading coverages but he's supposed to though. He's more Tyler than Dak. We need to go after guys like O'korn.
and he's a sign and place guy? Like what I'm hearing about him.

Scout has slim pickings on the evaluation front. Kids default to 2*s just by getting their name in the database as a senior, basically... They had Chris Jones as a 2* well after he got bumped to a 4* on 24/7...
Trust 24/7 for this info -- where they actually go watch games.
De'Runnya is extremely raw. Think this was his first year to ever play football. He's a basketball guy that is actually also pretty recruited in that sport(I don't think he has the offers of football though). He has a TON of potential -- but he's going to need alot of time with Brewster to develop.
Gray has to make the grades. He does, and he comes in ready to contribute at WR. Barton Simmons(24/7 national guy) watched him live 3-4 times this year and absolutely believes that he's one of the best prospects in all of Tennessee. Said he would be just as recruited as ANYONE in Tn if his grades were better. He's a slot guy with a ton of speed, who can line up outside, gets good separation, and he never, ever lets the first guy tackle him. Barton says he would probably be a mid-4* if not for grades and difficulty of getting him qualified...
we are asking Scott Austin, a very raw big WR, to possibly grayshirt due to the limited spots we have left while we continue to be after De'Runnya Wilson, another very raw big WR? Just seems a little odd. I personally think Jones from Eupora, though not as big as either, will be ready to contribute at the D1 level more quickly than either Austin or Wilson. Sometimes I think we get wrapped around the axle on measurables and don't take enough account of guys that are just good football players.
I guess it couldn't possibly be because he knows a passing QB CAN be successful in his offense with a stable running game and OL, like we'll have in 2013.
.
Somehow the guy is ranked the #1 receiver in Mississippi. I'm not one to blindly follow everything I hear but he must have done something over his career to garner that title.I wasn't really impressed with Austin in the All Star Game. Although, that is all I have seen of him considering there is not much film on the kid out there. I'm just gonna trust the coaches on this decision.
It's had FOUR years to improve. What makes you suddenly think it fixes itself with no staff or ideology changes in year 5?All you offense haters need to take a chill pill until after next season. If the offense doesn't improve, then I'll join you in the hating. But it will. If you truly are a coach you should know this elementary stuff.
Why do you think Mullen is recruiting Dobbs so heavily then? Why did he recruit all these other QBs that are pass happy over the years? I mean, if he was as smart as you, he'd know ONLY a runner could succeed in his patented system. Those are Croom type mistakes.
Stable, yes. Very very average. That's why we were an average offense. We will be even better on the OL next year and it will contribute to a better offense. It's really this simple. It isn't a Tyler/Dak thing.
And if you're going to reply to me, answer my first question about Dobbs.
I agree with you, he had to have done something right to be ranked as the top wideout in the state. However, he must not be as developed as Christy or Hammond or else we would not be asking him to grey shirt. Just gotta trust that our staff knows what they are doing with this one, still hope the kid ends up on campus.Somehow the guy is ranked the #1 receiver in Mississippi. Dobbs is listed as a drop-back QB. Most QBs can run a little bit. Point is, Mullen is trying to find the best QBs he can. This other crap is a myth.....EVERYBODY would love to have a dual threat QB, problem is, the passing is what has to come first.
