<span class="storybody">Long known for his accomplishments in coaching powerful defenses, Torbush just completed his third season as the defensive coordinator at
Texas A&M. In 1996 he was named the National Defensive Coordinator of the Year by American Football Quarterly. Torbush also lead the
Ole Miss,
North Carolina and
Alabama defenses to the top of their conferences in overall defensive numbers.
During his time at A&M however, the once heralded Aggie "Wrecking Crew" defense struggled, producing numbers that steadily declined. Heading into last week's game against arch-rival
Texas, A&M's defense was ranked 109th in the country, allowing a national worst 319 passing yards per game.</span>
