As of right now, we are not interested in Payne...

That could change, but as of right now, we are steering clear of Payne and the Calipari assistants. If that changes, I will mention it, but that is the latest I know. Right now, the search is moving very deliberately on purpose, we want to find the right guy, not the right-now guy. I would imagine, just on pure speculation, that we have a name on Saturday, and press conference Monday or Tuesday.<div>
</div><div>Don't be surprised if it is Woods, Collins, Wojo or Dooley, however. None of those are bad hires in my mind. Oh, and a name just for fun... Steve Alford.</div><div>

Can't believe we wouldn't be interested in a 46 year old assistant coach who is 3rd on the asst coach ladder at ky..

I'll be disappointed if it's Woods honestly and I won't be fired up about Alford either really.

he won't come back to him. I hope it doesn't backfire on Scott but I hear he is looking for a squeaky clean type of guy to turn things around. I have no idea<div>of the coaches that fit that criteria but I suppose he does.

I considered throwing out his name on the list of people to go after but thought that would be too much of a stretch (and assumed he was waiting for his dad to retire to take over the Cards).

Why in the hell would Pitino give up what he's got? He's got a good thing going in Louisville. And he gets to stick it to KY every year. He's loved in Kentucky... Unless he just has a desire to get back in the SEC, which I don't think he would when he has it made currently. In other words, Rick Pitino is the most delusional name listed so far. It ain't happening.

Richard Pitino. This is not to say that there is anything to it, again, but don't be surprised...
Ijust can't picture a Pitino in Starkville, and I thinkhe thinks he's in lineto follow in dear oldDad's rather huge footsteps. Sooner rather than later, given their improbable run to the Final Four.

Butthis is one I can easily track down. Stay tuned.

But I dont know how serious a name Pitino is right now. I heard it the first time last week, but I dismissed it. Came up from a different person today.
