Winning 8+ games/year in the SEC puts you in a much better position as a program compared to winning 20+ games, the West, and not making the tournament. I don't recall anybody outside of Clemson maybe South Carolina showing interest in Stans. Take a look at Frank Beamer's first five years at VA Tech, and look where that program is right now. MSU could be similar to that in the future, but there are a lot of variables to that equation for that to happen, but it is possible.
Stans has had his run of success, now it's time for MSU to take the program in a different direction. RS has plenty of money, and his family can ride off into the sunset and enjoy fishing and watching his boys grow up. It's not a bad thing.
