there will be anrecap on the MSU athletic website in about an hour from now. Bost, Bryant, Shaun Smith, Moultrie and Lewis started. According to the tweets both Lewis and Moultrie played well.Honestly I am starting to not care if Sidney doesn't come back. </p>

was the U-23 National team from the Netherlands. A college all-star team, basically.

Now the Netherlands isn't the USA in basketball, but its still the best college players from a competitive Euro nation. I think we play the German equal later who may be a little better.

For comparison's sake, I'd take the Sun Belt Conference as a whole, and make an all-star team based on their players. Germany might be a Pac 10 all-star team.

So, if the Latvian mystery recruit comes aboard and Sidney shows up literally and figuratively, is this our starting lineup?

1. Dee
2. Shaun Smith
3. Latvian super secret private mystery recruit
4. Moutrie
5. Renardo

I'm assuming that lineup was our "worst case" scenario, although I could certainly see Rodney Hood getting in the lineup over Brian Bryant. I can cetainly live with Wendall Lewis at the five if Renardo doesn't show up. Brian Bryant as the shooting guard worries me.

But in all my years of watching MSU basketball, I have never seen a player that is more talented than Renardo at MSU. I think he will play in the NBA beyond his MSU career no matter how it all shakes out. It's not like the NBA hasn't taken some guys with character issues before. Heck, they glorified it for awhile it seemed like.

Some of the things Renardo can do are unreal. What's scary is he is doing all of that without his head screwed on straight.

He is never going to be Jarvis Varnado or Timmy Bowers from a character standpoint, but I just hope he turns out like Charles Rhodes in terms of character and not Walter Sharpe. There was a time when a lot of people wanted Rhodes off the team as well, I'm sure but he ended up being one of my favorites. I just hope Renardo ends up like that.

At the same time, I don't feel like we "need" Renardo, but I'll admit, it sure would be nice.

Coach Stansbury has maintained for while now that right now the backcourt will be Bost and Bryant starting with Smith and Steele as the respective backups. I don't think that S Smith is enough to consistently guard SEC shooting guards.

He has a lot of talent, but I'm not sure we wouldn't be better off without him either. We sure as hell would have been better off without him last year.

Oh ok that sounds much better. I was just reading that as well, apparently if there is more than one dribble taken then no assist can be given according to FIBA.

Zebo finally got his head straight, became an all star, and is now playing for a city that loves him. But it took about 10 years for that to happen. There's no doubt in my mind that Sid will get his shot at the NBA, but he needs to start making some better choices quickly.
