I am a jaded NFL fan - this is my history. Born into a Big Red family, AKA STL Cardinals football team, they were always back of the pack, making the playoffs only once in my life (when I was 9) and then moved to AZ in 1988.
Along came the Rams in 1995, who sucked when I still lived down here until 1997, when I moved to Chicago. I had been a Bears fan since 1985, but more so in college, starting in 1991.
Since then, the Bears have had just seven double-digit win seasons, making the playoffs eight times. They have used first-round draft picks for illustrious players such as Alonzo Spellman, Curtis Conway, Rashaan Salaam, Curtis Enis, Cade McNown, David Terrell, Marc Colombo, Rex Grossman, Michael Haynes, Rex Grossman, Tommie Harris, Cedric Benson, Gabe Carimi, Shea McClellin, Kyle Long, Kyle Fuller, Kevin White, Leonard Floyd, Mitchell Trubisky and Justin Fields.
Meanwhile, in 1999, The Greatest Show on Turf commences ... and I miss it because the regional games I'd get in market were Indy on Green Bay, never STL.
I moved temporarily from Chicago to Waukesha for 2021 and '22 seasons, the latter being the year Rodgers broke his leg and they missed the playoffs.
I think I am the Marty Mush of the Sunday League.
