Forgot about the Lance trade...oooof.
3 #1's for Trey Lance is asinine. Utterly ridiculous. Someone should have been fired for this. But, that being said, Lance was a victim of being injured more then poor play. He had the starting job and got hurt in that typhoon vs the Bears in week 1 and was replaced by Brock Purdy and the rest is history....then he got traded to Dallas to be Daks back up. I read he will be starting for San Diego this week with Herbert getting a rest.

I believe RGIII was also drafted after 3 firsts were traded.

Yes, but they swapped 2012 1st round picks in the trade.
Swapping 1st rounders then giving up 2 is the far as I would go for a player that I was 100% sure would be the peice we need to succeed for the next 5 seasons at least. But giving up 3 out right is insane to me. Bears giving up 2 for Mack really set us back. Even Hershel Walker who was a 3 pick trade was not a dominant player . He was good. He had a couple dominant seasons, but all in all I would classify him as a solid player. No Rings and no HOF.

It was essentially the trade that built the 1990's Cowboys. It's even worse because he only played 3 years with the Vikings.

I’m cool w letting this year play out before thinking about the draft/trades
Not sure there’s much they can do before the offseason. The defensive stats from the last 2 games are concerning, though. They’ve given up 880 yards over the last two games, which includes 392 yards rushing. GB was 0 for 5 in the red zone. SF had no problems there. Scored on drives of 65, 66, 75, 72, 65 and 75 yards. No short fields on their TDs. Yikes.

Good OCs are going to leverage this defense all day. Stick with high percentage passes, and break off runs against the Bears poor gap integrity.

One silver lining I hope really helps the Bears is that their worst defensive performances have come on the road (Detroit, Cincy, SF).

If the bears can get the 2seed and get at least two home games - that would be huge.

World of difference playing SF, LA or Seattle in Chicago weather.

That's why they aren't laying up this Sunday and resting. Still something big to play for

Philly announced they're sitting most of their starters so that increases the odds of Bears getting the 2 seed.
I have no idea why they want to do this unless they feel they can beat Washington without the starters. Which is very possible. So if things don't change they would get the Rams at home in the first round while the Bears would get Green Bay at home.

But if the Bears lose and Philadelphia wins and nothing else changes they flip flop spots and flip the first game opponent. The problem comes in when the second round games are played. If things stay the way they are, and both the Bears and Eagles win their first games, then the Bears would host the Eagles at Soldier Field in round two.

However, if the Eagles and Bears flip spots and both teams win their first game, then the Bears would have to travel to Philadelphia for the round two game. That is not what I want to see. I'd rather the Bears play the Eagles at home.

Here's the monkey wrench. The Bears could play two division teams in a row before the second round of the playoffs. They may very well win both of those games. But they will definitely wear some bruises going into the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Isn't it fun discussing playoff scenarios when the Bears are involved in the conversation?

Bears DBs are playing way too far back. It’s sickening to watch Goff throw these short passes in front of our guys.

Pathetic. Tom Brady even said this defense needs to make some adjustments.

Don't tell me Detroit has a great offense to excuse this atrociousness. That was used last week with SF, who were missing their best O-lineman and stud TE.

Three offensive possessions with 4:00 mins to go in Q2. Inexcusable.

If they don't adjust, this team will lose next week. Defense is exhausting.

And what a shame it would be. Yes, this season was unexpected, but is that an excuse to lose in R1?

You have proven you can compete with anyone, so why would the "We are a year away" excuse be acceptable? Loser mentality.

I realize the game is still very early, and things can improve. It must; no excuses. No TOs, so make some adjustments per Tom Brady.

For me, the most frustrating thing is that it looks like Dennis dusted off his binder from the last time they played and is just reusing the game plan. St. Brown just abusing the Bears and their bad matchups

They'll gladly give up the short throws. They start playing up and St. Brown and Williams will blow right past them.

Agreed.

We all know the defense is brutal if they don't get any TOs. They are not getting any TOs, but it's the same old crap! Make an adjustment!

Allen can't come up with a plan? He's had bad defenses before--earn your money.

I realize the '85 defense is not going to just show up, but can the Bears, at least, get ONE stop somewhere along the way? Ever?

The "bend but don't break" defense gets annoying as well, especially when the offense gets 3 freakin' possessions in one half.

They have to do something because they can’t put pressure on Goff. Let’s see what they do in the 2nd half. It really is disappointing. I would have thought our defensive coordinator would have done something different. The zone coverage certainly wasn’t working.

Not surprised at the D struggling. The poor play of the offense is a surprise.

You knew the Lions were scoring given a second chance. Pretty amazing Detroit only had 19 points given the way the Bears’ defense played. Obviously, the Bears needed to cash in that last opportunity.

When I saw this online I was excited to see the Patriots coming to Chicago. That is, until I saw the Patriots will be in KC as well. I know what stadium I am going to. LOL. A trip to KC with hotel and ticket is most likely to be cheaper than just going to a game at Soldier Field with those ticket prices, not to mention parking. And the experience is far better in KC when it comes to getting in and out. Fans in KC are better to visiting team fans as well...by far.

Might go see the 49ers out there too.

Same old crap. The defense can not stop anyone. So damn frustrating. TDs vs FGs.

So bad, Bears went for it on their own 39. 😆

Why is GB passing? Just run the ball. Bears can't stop anyone. Stupid.
