Beshear about to issue mask Mandate in schools?

The mandate is legally invalid per legislation and the Boone County ruling. But it doesn’t matter, nobody has the fortitude to stand up to this nonsense. And that is precisely what will allow for mask mandates in perpetuity.

Cloth masks don’t work, but that doesn’t matter either.

The politically expedient action for Beshear would be to not require masks in schools. The responsible action, while unpopular, is to require masks in schools, particularly K-12. With that action, you have to presume there will be complaints and hatred directed towards you, but you can’t make all the people happy all the time. And that’s life.
Why doesn’t he also require kids to wear goggles in school? “Experts” like Fauci have said if you want best protection masks AND eye protection should be worn. Kids could definitely do it, they wear them at the pool all the time so this would be an easy transition for them. I guess he is going the political route by not requiring goggles…or maybe he just doesn’t care about kids? If he required goggles, sure he may experience a little push back from the CRAZY lunatics, but you can’t make people happy all the time.

In Jefferson County, the Superintendent doesn’t wear a mask when sitting within 2 feet of a child but then that same night he mandates all people in school building wear a mask.

These people never live by their own rules. Just like Andy at that ballgame with his mask below his chin. Or the president's giant maskless birthday gala.

Masks have t worked anywhere in the world. Bidens covid czar was on tv last Sunday admitting they know they don't work. Yet here we are again.

Given the level of cancel culture power they wield over the average working person, I'm sure there can be much overt resistance. If you're on the right team you can burn buildings and assault drivers while they cheer. On the wrong team and you're cancelled and life ruined.

Best way to resist is twofold: 1) remove your kids from public schools. That hits their funding and gets your kids out of the insanity they teach and nonsense mask mandates. 2) vote their a$$ out come election day. I mean every single person who voted for or spoke out in favor of mask mandates or any of this other worthless nonsense. Send them all home.

It's derelict and reprehensible. You have an incompetent and corrupt governor.

The flu is more of a danger to children, and we know for certain schools and children are a significant factor in the propagation of that virus, which is never going to go away.

If you are going to be logically consistent, sacrificing their intellectual and emotional development to "protect" them from a virus, then you have to mandate they wear them in perpetuity.

See, I don’t buy this for a second. This mask mandate is totally political for Beshear, just not for a career in this state. He knows he’s likely a one term governor regardless, so why not set himself up for something bigger on the national level? And being a Democrat governor in a red state and “protecting the children” in the face of extreme criticism sure sets him up for the next step.

Don’t be naive enough to think this isn’t political.

Wonder how many half truths he’ll tell today? Yesterday he acted like Warren County schools had 95 positives in three days. But he fails to say that most of those kids were already sick or in quarantine and never came to school a single day. This major school outbreak was 0.5% of the student population and hadn’t even been to school yet. He’s just a liar like his daddy.

Probably because that’s not realistic?

How is it not realistic? Kids have been wearing goggles all summer at pools. Why can they not wear them in school? Plus they had great practice at wearing something on their face already so it should be double easy just to throw on a pair of goggles. How are the goggles unrealistic/different than a mask? I really would like your take on that question. Maybe I am missing something?

Wow! Bking literally wants kids to die.

That’s how this works, right?

Obviously your goal here is to make an argument by absurdity. So, if we are going to take on the absurd as realistic, then let’s do it.

Public school is not a choice

Average cost of cheapest goggles: $1

Average time to replace cheapest goggles: 1 week

Amount of kids in poverty: a lot

Damage to eyes by wearing goggles for extended period of time: realistic

Wearing goggles to stop covid isn’t realistic therefore your argument is null and void.

Decent attempt at wit but also ridiculous

Not sure what avg cost/avg time to replace/kids in poverty have to do with anything? It takes 1 week to replace a pair of goggles? Maybe if you decide to drive to Oregon to pick them up..but Amazon prime can get them here a whole lot quicker than that.
Damage to eyes by wearing goggles…can you point me to the research on where you found this…alarming if true.

Goggles apply pressure to the eye, which raises prospect of glaucoma and longterm nerve damage. This is acceptable when swimming but not intended to be worn through day and through long periods. Not to mention, they also prevent visibility, which make them even less realistic given amount of students with eye issues.

To be honest, it’s an awful idea.

Studies suggest that small, tight-fitting goggles can raise the pressure in your eye (intraocular pressure) to unhealthy levels. In one study, wearing goggles raised the swimmers’ pressures by an average of 4.5 points; however, one of the types of goggles used in this study caused an increase of 13 points! Average intraocular pressure is between 10 and 21. If the pressure remains above 21 for prolonged periods of time, irreversible damage to the optic nerve called glaucoma can result.

So why doesn't THE governor require all children riding in vehicles to wear crash helmets like NASCAR does. They have a high chance of getting their head mashed in on the way to school if the school bus gets in a wreck or they slip on ice getting off the bus.

Let's get serious here. A helmet is much better than a paper or cloth mask. Do it for the children

I know you’re being facetious, but considering school busses don’t even have damn seatbelts, maybe you’re on to something.

If a politician has a supporter who makes or sells goggles, the government can pay an exorbitant price to provide every kid with a pair of goggles.

Andy's hand picked state board of education meets tomorrow. They can make their own mandates which will be enforced legally from what I understand. So that means one way or another Andy will get his precious way and the power trip continues.

At some point you do have to address that the African American and Latino population, mainly Democrat, are the least vaccinated groups. The reason you have to address it is because I don’t give a **** about politics and want this to be over by getting as many people vaxxed as possible, and divisive political crap like this doesn’t really help. All this crap about mask mandates could’ve been a moot point if most everyone was vaxxed

Rack.

Im an evil conservative that is vaccinated and cares about the west end of louisville. Quite the conundrum!!!1!1! My business is located there and the majority of my employees, most of whom are like family to me, are black. And the vaccination rate among them is poor. Like….really bad.

Most of the talking heads on TV don’t know a regular black person (or white person for that matter) from Adam. Some of the reasons for not getting the shot are way out there to me, but are rooted in some pretty deep distrust of the government, doctors etc which frankly I don’t blame them given some of their life experiences. All I can do is encourage them and tell them why I think it’s a good idea, and to talk to a doctor they trust (most don’t have a “primary” nor care).

May start doing some incentive pay for
my folks to get it and back pay the ones that have already…..small biz has to do everything else around here, why not just add it to the list lols.
