Sammyk, that’s what was trying to say about the NC piedmont area. Your were able to say the same thing much better than I did.
Well thank you. I remember when I coached at North Gaston and the Mill towns that were there in the late 1990's. Places like Thomasville, Kannapolis, Hickory had furniture, Lincolnton ect. All are gone now due to businesses wanting to not pay workers and make money for shareholders. It's been going on for decadesSammyk, that’s what was trying to say about the NC piedmont area. Pittsburgh is a great city now, also my favorite major baseball park.Being from Southwestern PA this happened to the coal mines and steel mills back in the 1980's. US Steel could have the steel made cheaper somewhere else so they shut down and moved. It crippled the area for about 2 decades. Pittsburgh reinvented itself into a medical tech banking city but the surrounding counties have never fully recovered. Communities like mine in Carmichaels , and those in say Aliquippa, Uniontown, Jeannette, Monesson, McKeesport ect will never be the same . It's sad but who is to blame???? I guess it does not matter all that matters is someone had a job now they don't.
It does! Still lacking electricity, and plumbing, hopefully that will be completed in a couple of months. Girls soccer is playing on the field though.I rode by the football stadium in Canton today. Field looked great.
Where did Darrin go?Around the Belmont area back in the day mill workers were looked down on by the higher ups. I don’t think those higher ups realized there wouldn’t have been a Belmont without the mills and the mill workers.
Balsum Range has been my go to since the Paper Town album came out. We’ve seen em live three times. I don’t know what they are going to look like without Darrin. I hated to hear he was leaving the band. He brought a lot to the table.
Darren is out on his own now doing some good work. All of them are really good dudes. https://www.darrennicholson.net/Where did Darrin go?
this is very hard on the communityThis is terrible news for the area and will definitely impact Pisgah and Haywood County.

I know Tim very well. If you ever come up, let me know. Also, Balsam Range is doing a concert in Canton on Saturday April 22nd in Sorrells Park “down by the river”. https://www.altrusaofwaynesville.org/purchase-ticketsI’ve met them a a show in Gatlinburg. Just got speak and say howdy. I’d love to be able to sit down and visit awhile. They do seem like good dudes.
