Big news out of Galax...Mark Dixon resigns

rumors are official this AM. According to Craig Worrell from the Galax Gazette (statement issued by GHS) "Dixon has resigned to pursue an opportunity at the next level and we support him 100%".

Was this a surprise or somewhat expected? Coach Dixon was a tremendous player at UVA and a solid lineman in the NFL. I would expect he would have a number of colleges looking to acquire his services?

To most it was a matter of when not if..I think the general sentiment was Galax was living on borrowed time. He certainly gave so much more than just a football program to the community. I'm certain they will support him above and beyond as he looks for the next challenge.

Riverheads fans were looking foward to a rematch next season . With Dixon at the helm that game would have been much closer . Best of luck to him ! I am sure all of G town is in morning .

Wow. I made that drive to Galax last night. we were talking about all he had done for that area. So any idea if they still want to turf that TERRIBLE field!?
