There's plenty of reserve WAC players that we can pivot to. With the power of playing for the name on the front of the jersey we'll be just fine.
Recruits are using what vestige of prestige UK has left to keep their actual preferred destination upping the price for their services. Stokes, however, appears to be seeing how desperate UK is and if they'll the go higher before heading to KU instead to play for a man on the death's doorstep.
Truthfully I’m glad he’s staying. Stokes doesn’t want to come here and if he’d came just because the school he wanted didn’t work out then it would have been a circus. The bigger reason though is that I expect that we suck next year whether Stokes came or not and I did NOT want KU getting their choice of a coach a year before us. That’s on top of UNC. I don’t want anyone going near Oats, Hurley or Golden.
I honestly felt the same. I feel like he would have ended up at Oregon or Arkansas. We were kept around for the clout and to drive up NIL. Until Pope actually lands an elite player just expect him to whiff.
It's actually depressing to think that our only chance to land a good recruit was to hope that the coach of another program retires.

And honestly.. Stokes picking a near-retired Self over us just puts the heat on Pope even more. The blue bloods will all go into next season with a player who can will them to a final 4 (we know Self and Scheyer wont win though, lol).. and our fans and donors and benefactors are gonna watch another year of roster that just cant compete, and they will be that much more pissed off.
Indiana hasn't made a deep run since the early 2000s and they had a championship football team. Our fans are just spoiled and don't remember Billy g or tubby years
Indiana doesn't watch basketball like we do. Hell pope did something cal didn't do in a long time his first year and beat duke.

Kansas and Nebraska have a lot of tradition in basketball and football, I have been to Lincoln and Lawrence and there is not much of anything to do. You are in the middle of nowhere, I mean nowhere. Funny how they used to get all those players to go there when there was no NIL or was there.
Billy was a drunk. Tubby had a boring offense and at end couldn't recruit. He never once has a bad record though, or went to nit.
I remember tubby and Billy just fine. In fact, the last 7-8 years have been just as bad or worse than Billy’s two years and Tubby’s last 5-6.
How have we been spoiled exactly? In the last 25 years we’ve only had UK standard seasons for maybe 10 or so of those years.
Boring offense?, Cal had some boring offenses too and he couldn’t beat lesser teams at the end. Tubby is also in the UK hall of fame and averaged around 25 wins a year with a lot less talent than Cal had.
Y'all are gonna be a miserable lot until next week. I'll still be a fan. The bandwagon only fans who like a team when they are up I could care less about. From 99 to 2012, with the sec not being great most of y'all couldn't handle it, and we didn't do that great. Before this year it was about the portal not about freshmen. I need to stay off boards and Facebook because bandwagon fans are making us look worse than what we are.
If we fire pope and they get someone who is winning like 8 a year I'm gonna be mad at the bandwagon fans for not being reasonable is all. Cal was good when hired here, pope has had alot of injuries and he has to deal with nil which is new and having to prioritize certain players over others. He didn't so a good job last year. I still think with the portal there is still hope

I'm not either one, but I heard that it was special ordered genuine PUBIC hair from a Kentucky fan, and Self liked it so much, he had two more made as soon as the fan grew it back
They are the biggest wimps of the fanbase. Day in, day out they get out of bed with upside down smiles and seek comfort with their other miserable friends on the internet. Just a wimpy little gaggle, lol.
Nebraska has won (2) NCAA tournament games. All time. Not sure they have a lot of basketball tradition.
I will say that a lot of KU fans have been kinda waning on him. And he hasn't exactly killed it the last couple of years. He won that title in 2022 and kinda slid off. BUT that all changes if he lands a couple of dudes.
It's his swan song. He'll have a killer roster and they may get as much publicity as Duke.
Not talking about Nebraska basketball, their football and Kansas basketball. Nebraska basketball and Kansas football are not much. Talking about why recruits would go to those places were there is nothing, evidently there has always been money or some other reason to go to those schools.
I think the guy I was responding to was saying not landing stokes was a blessing in disguise
