Just need another backup big and we're done.

Contrary to a lot of angsty fans, I actually really like the roster we have so far. I think we have defined starters and backups who will know their roles.

We have more shooting than last year and more athleticism than Pope's first year. We have PG depth (legit 3.5-strong). I do think we can approach 30 wins with this roster. That's still far from the standard, but this is a genuinely good group of guys we've got so far.

Boom.
Besides Wilkins, we've got no one on the wing who can score. Hawthorne was redshirted for a reason last year. Williams is one-dimensional. He has no slashing game to speak of. That's a huge issue.

You're usually a pretty reasonable poster. I'm surprised that you like this roster without the necessary second wing scorer.

This team will be lucky to finish top 5 in the SEC, and there's no way they're winning the SEC. Isn't that the point of fielding a team at Kentucky? I guess some of our fans are okay with "meh" these days now that the standard has been lowered significantly.

We will be fighting Mississippi State for who doesn’t finish last in the SEC. This roster is abysmal.

It’s funny because I saw so many say last year that Popes first team will be his least talented team he has here. I always thought that was very questionable but now it’s laughable because it’s gonna end up being his most talented team.

Lol I was with you til you said 30 wins. Now I feel like that's a troll post.

I like the backcourt a lot actually. The question is will guys like Kam and Hawthorne and Moreno take those next steps. And how good is Ousmane honestly? If those guys step up and are plus players I can see maybe a 21-10 type year if a couple balls bounce our way.

But 30 wins? Cmon lol
The cool thing is I said "approach" 30 wins. That's 27 in my book.

I don't know what fans really want from Kam. He was great last year when he got it going but a ton of fans are talking like he has to make some huge jump or he'll be unplayable. I think Hawthorne will surprise some people, too. He's highly skilled, long, and really just needed some muscle on that frame from a year in a college program.

I've read several places from overseas analysts and coaches that UK got a steal in Ousmane and that he will probably be in the draft next year. I don't recall hearing anything like that about Jelavic, MoD, or Garrison last year.

I'm not trolling. I'm dead serious. Go ahead and bookmark my comment. In a year, if anything of this **** hole site still exists, you can call me out and I'll eat crow.

These guys just aren’t going to move the needle. We have no game changers.
3 - 6’4“+ point guards with D1 starter experience - each with at least 2 years left if 5 in 5 passes. Throw in M Williams a Pro’s son & Kam , we got a great guard corps.
2 pieces away from a Blue Collar - Blue Blood team that will get Pope a 4th & 5th year.
Not my favorite scenario but I’m a realist.

If this isn’t sarcasm then it’s maybe the most delusional post I’ve ever read here and that says alot. This is one of the worst rosters in the SEC.

Makes me feel a little better that we actually have close to a full team. Still feels like a very under-talented roster though.

Grabbing another 4-star-ish PF would make me feel better about the roster having talent for next year.

2-3 more and we are done. Another big, and maybe another 2 guard who can shoot from 3. Wilkins can also play the one, so I think we are legit 3ish deep at point.

The piece we are missing is a shot blocker down low, and some more offense from deep. This is shaping up to be a more balanced roster than last season. I just wish we had a more pedestrian schedule early.

Well we play 31 regular season games..to even get to 27 let's say we go 23-8 and then win 2 in the SEC and then 2 in the NCAA. I'm sorry but with the current roster unless we snag one of the borderline draft guys who decide to come out at the last minute, I don't see how you can reasonably project that. But hey, love the optimism.

As a backup that can come in and give shooting relief I’m all for it. Has played a role on a high major team the past couple of seasons and probably knows exactly what he was recruited for. Don’t need role players that think they’re stars, just come in and do what you’re supposed to do and it’ll be all good.

A 4 star Hawthorne range, the team has a shot at the NCAAT. A 4 star Mase Williams range, it's NIT

Oweh was our slasher Pope's first year. This year, our lack of perimeter threat essentially closed that down for everyone. If Oweh had a hard time slashing, nobody on the team besides maybe Lowe could've. It was also KW's first year in this offense and we all saw how timid he played most of the year.

Check out his Tulane highlights. He has some really nice drives. Against garbage teams, but still. He's got the ability. I also don't know if it's fair to assess Kam or anyone on last year's team when they didn't have a legit PG. We can, of course. I just don't know that it's the most productive use of our time.

I'm not saying I'm OK with "meh." I'm just not gonna give myself a coronary by stressing about a sinking ship in its lame duck year. 🤷‍♂️

Set for a 25+ win season & a round of 32 with chance at Sweet 16.

Stop it lol. Assuming we add the Israeli center and maybe one more meh guard/wing this roster reeks of 19-12 or 18-13 and a 9 seed and that's ASSUMING some of the frontcourt takes the leap we hope they do.

This roster is worse than last year's 3-12 LSU team. Basically, Pope has to be twice the coach McMahon is to get a TENTH seed in the SEC.

None of these buffoons would be willing to put real money on UK achieving even an SECT win with this current roster. It's easy to rah rah with zero on the line.

How the **** do you think this is one of the worst rosters in the SEC?? we will have one of the better back courts of the SEC. I am concerned about the wings, but I think we'll be a lot stronger the front court than most people think. I do worry that we don't have a star that can just take over a game, but I think we'll have a team that fits a lot better than last year's team did.
