Two ways to look at it- For a visiting team- NYC during the Holiday is a heck of a fun trip. Only problem is cost and availability. But for some- the chance to have a trip of a lifetime and being sitting in Yankee stadium. Not a bad thing at all.

For us- it just sucks but better than nothing
It’s. Not. “Yankee Stadium.”

Just a facility that shares the name.

Third base side, the seats are good enough.
If you are high enough those seats give a straight view of the field (my brother and daughter in law sat there to watch his son on the field as part of the Athletic Trainers staff) but the distance to the field is equivalent to sitting in the Scarlet Lot. The closer you are to the 50 yard line, the further you are from the field. Same as the Vet in Philly back in the day.
There are no "great" seats at Yankees Stadium.

on my original quote- when I mentioned Yankee Stadium- I did say that it was not the original one...

But for out of town fans- it is still NYC during the holidays and Yankee stadium

It’s not the best, but it’s good enough. Certainly no worse than sitting in the upper deck at Giants Stadium, where you feel like your miles away.

Of all the bowl games I've been at Yankee Stadium is the worst. I went to 2 Bowl games and the Army game before that in Bronx's and it's much better to stay at home and watch on TV even if the tickets were free.
Unlike SkyDome which was built as a duel purpose stadium (great seats!) Yankee Stadium was built as baseball only structure. If in the planning stages they wanted football, only minor design changes could have been made to accommodate both. Instead they built it to match the old YS last setup.

For me legion field was the worst. Yankee Stadium isn’t the best but it certainly isn’t the worst. Beaver Stadium and Ohio Stadium upper deck, you also feel like you’re miles away from the action.

MetLife, sure.

But the old Giants Stadium had a steepness and closeness the newer buildings do not.

Shea was like that too, same with the Vet.

If that ends up being our bowl destination- I'll save the 45 minute trip and watch from home myself. I am so glad our son wasn't playing when this bowl came about. I can't image trading trips to Arz/Texas/Toronto/Bama/St. Pete for a crappy drive to the Bronx.

I'm not talking about upper vs upper deck. I'm talking about the best seats in the house at Yankees Stadium. Legion Field from a viewing stand point was excellent. The bathrooms etc were beat up but the seats right on top of the field. Even the end zone seats at Tropicana were great. Plus you were in Tampa while a blizzard was going on up here.

Even that one’s been fixed as it’s been moved to RayJay.

Without 2 more wins and some help, Rutgers is going to the Pinstripe Bowl this year. I don't see the point of attacking the bowl, which clearly isn't going anywhere and will always want Rutgers playing there if bowl eligible and available.

I also disagree with the idea that the Phoenix bowl is better, plus Rutgers has already played a bowl game in that city, too, which hurts the arguments of those claiming we shouldn't have to "go back" to NYC. By the way, Rutgers has never been to The Bronx as a Big Ten team, so us going to the Pinstripe Bowl in our first year of bowl eligibility since 2014 should surprise no one.

Newly created account called "RUinDaBronx" advocating for the Pinstripe in post #1.

Yeah, that's not completely sketchy or anything.

I believe this ID has just replaced the previous Pinstripe ID that just kept repeating the same thing.

As a Rutgers fan it's nothing special to go to Yankees Stadium as a Big Ten team. Same bowl game, same baseball stadium, same winter weather, same terrible turf.
If you don't think going away to a bowl game, even one we played before almost 20 years ago, isn't better then staying at home and going to a local event, you're crazy. It's the trip that makes the bowl game special as a fan.

Rutgers doesn’t need any help if they get two wins, because the teams we would be competing against for spots have a lot of games against each other and will pick up losses.

Our bowl in Phoenix was 18 years ago. A large % of our fanbase today is likely not repeat travelers if that ends up as our destination. But I doubt the Pinstripe passes on us if we are on the board when they pick, except maybe for Nebraska.

If it was the same date at the Music City (12/30) or even the Pinstripe (12/28), that could make a difference.

Seems Rutgers has to win at least two more to avoid the Pinstripe & that might not be good enough

6 wins 100 percent Pinstripe
7 - ditto
8 - 50/50
9 - Vegas or Nashville

This 1000%
For players, staff, and fans playing in the Pinstripe Bowl is the furthest thing from a real Bowl experience.

It might not be good enough, but with the losses still to be doled out in the West an 8-4 Rutgers would have to be passed over at least once and possibly twice for 7-5 teams.

In fact there are some reasonable scenarios where Iowa is 8-3, Wisconsin and Rutgers are 8-4, and nobody else is better than 6-6.

The good news is the Pinstripe can’t take the same B1G team more than once each 7? Years.
So at least we’ll get it over with for a while.
This
Shows how bad B1G teams and fans want to avoid this Bowl.

That doesn’t make any sense.
It’s Yankee stadium. Not “the Yankee stadium”…but Yankee stadium
It is like a football fan wanting to see a game at the Cowboys Stadium even though it is the new Stadium.

We have this thing here about the old vs new stadium but a kid in Iowa who fell in love with Jeter and Mariano does not care- If Mom and Dad are bringing him to NYC and Yankee stadium for a football game- it is a dream for him

If Wisconsin wins out & Nebraska loses out, a win over Maryland should make Vegas Bowl very likely For RU.
Regardless of RU game, Iowa can win West - and a trip to the citrus - winning their last 2 very winnable games.
Wisconsin will go to Music City. Vegas picks next, and should pick Rutgers over a 6-6 Minnesota

Thank you.
But it’s Yankee stadium.

Madison square garden isn’t in the same either.

As far as the pinstripe bowl , since this is what the thread is about , the bowl has only been played at the current Yankee stadium . So there was no pinstripe bowl history in the original house that Ruth built

House that Derek and Mo built. It is still Yankee stadium. We could still be sitting in Babe's house but a few of us may have died by the bricks that would have been falling on our heads.
IT IS the home of the most Popular American Sports Franchise.

Why is everyone assuming Pinstripe at this point?
If the bowls were selected today, Nashville or Vegas would be far more likely, as Rutgers is considered by most to be the 4th or 5th best team in the Big Ten.
lets see what happens against Iowa before booking bus ticket to the Bronx.
