Bowls don’t simply pick the best team. They also consider the likelihood that the fanbase will show up in numbers, and any evidence of that for RU is old and in a different conference while we will be competing for bids with some schools who have decades long reputations for showing up at bowl games,Why is everyone assuming Pinstripe at this point?
If the bowls were selected today, Nashville or Vegas would be far more likely, as Rutgers is considered by most to be the 4th or 5th best team in the Big Ten.
lets see what happens against Iowa before booking bus ticket to the Bronx.
Brother- I am not speaking for myself but for so many millions that have never been to the original Yankee Stadium.Jerrah says, “ya alls are wrong.”
Rutgers would need to beat both Iowa and Maryland to even have a chance at a bowl other than the Pinstripe. Posters can complain all they want but the Big Ten doesn't give a hoot. The conference wants us in the Bronx and so does the bowl itself. It's definitely happening unless we go 8-4 and get help. Why is everyone assuming Pinstripe at this point?

I haven't agreed with many of your posts but this one is spot on. Rutgers has had poor actual attendance at home this year and no bowl will bank on our fans traveling anywhere. Another reason the Pinstripe Bowl is all but certain this year.Bowls don’t simply pick the best team. You're so full of crap. No wonder you keep making up new screen names. The Big Ten could care less where Rutgers goes. It up to the bowl and it's TV partner who is the one paying all the $.Rutgers would need to beat both Iowa and Maryland to even have a chance at a bowl other than the Pinstripe. Your argument is that the conference doesn't care which bowls its teams play in? HAHAHAHAHAHA. It's hilarious how far some posters will go to deny reality. See you at Yankee Stadium. Might want to go ahead and buy your tickets now on TicketMaster to get good seats. The Big Ten could care less where Rutgers goes. You mean the rubes I mentioned earlier who don’t know the difference?Brother- I am not speaking for myself but for so many millions that have never been to the original Yankee Stadium.
The conference doesn't care at all. They get paid either way! It's TV that has the biggest say. They are paying the conference. And you won't see me at Yankees Stadium. Doubt you will be there either. You smell like a Mets fan!Your argument is that the conference doesn't care which bowls its teams play in? HAHAHAHAHAHA. Well.. to a point.. there is a pecking order according to the deals between conferences and the bowls. But, yes, you are correct in that where we finish doesn't guarantee squat... well, that may be wrong.. perhaps the bowl agreements lay out exactly when they are allowed to, say, skips the 5th place team for the 6th place team.. or a range of wins... like a 6-win team over a 7-win team. You're so full of crap. No wonder you keep making up new screen names. The Big Ten could care less where Rutgers goes. It up to the bowl and it's TV partner who is the one paying all the $.
The dude most likely works for something with a vested interest in us to to the shitbowl. That is why he has made up two ID'sTell me you've never been to a Rutgers bowl game without telling me you've never been to a Rutgers bowl game...
@RU4Real had a perfect response. Well done by all who gave that a like. Rutgers fans travel pretty darn well. I get the perception though.. clearly those bowl games in Arizona and Texas and elsewhere did not expect Rutgers to show up like we did. That will change in time. The dude most likely works for something with a vested interest in us to to the shitbowl. That is why he has made up two ID's

What it is going to come down to is if a bowl ahead of the PS Bowl selects us first or not. If Rutgers is available when the PS is selecting, they will take usPlus telling people to buy tickets now to get good seats, multiple times.
I cannot help but read his newest moniker as "ruin", as in, to destroy.
I saw a Yahoo projection today that had us in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl. They had Iowa to Citrus (reasonable), Wisconsin to Music City, Minnesota to Las Vegas (?), Maryland to Pinstripe, and Nebraska to Quick Lane. I thought that seemed to be a very unlikely final set of bids and would actually bet real money against it, if possible.
You post in the same exact ways as 2 other annoying posters on this board. What a coincidence...Your argument is that the conference doesn't care which bowls its teams play in? HAHAHAHAHAHA. That isn’t a B1G bowl tie inI want the GATOR.. earn it and WIN IT this time.
The craziest part is the idea multiple bowls would pass on Nebraska coming off a bowl drought. Nebraska was known for having a strong fan turnout even when they were in bowls so consistently the locations weren’t unique anymore.Plus telling people to buy tickets now to get good seats, multiple times.

Don't care.. just tell em we're showing up and there's nothing they can do about itThat isn’t a B1G bowl tie in
Shares the name with what else ?
DaBronx has never been to a Rutgers game and is a troll.Tell me you've never been to a Rutgers bowl game without telling me you've never been to a Rutgers bowl game...
"Least desirable" according to who? A few guys on this message board? Phoenix does absolutely nothing for me. Rutgers has been there before and the bowl is literally ranked lower than Pinstripe. Vegas would be cool but flying home from it would be hell for most fans so close to Christmas. You give the impression you will be disappointed if Rutgers is picked by the Music City or Las Vegas bowls. Why would a Rutgers fan (if you are one) be pushing for us to go to the least desirable location on the bowl list?
I've been to Toronto, St. Petersburg and Orlando for Rutgers bowl games. Nice try though.Tell me you've never been to a Rutgers bowl game without telling me you've never been to a Rutgers bowl game...
LOL not even close. The dude most likely works for something with a vested interest in us to to the shitbowl.
The stadium looked close to empty on TV. I couldn't make it on such short notice and obviously neither could thousands of other Rutgers fans. Either way that bowl was a throwaway since we didn't earn our way in.The guy probably didn't know we brought thousands of fans to Jacksonville amid the surge of Omicron in a short notice.
Rutgers would have to win two more games to even have an outside chance at a non-Pinstripe Bowl. I know that bothers some posters here but it's the truth. As I type, I still have RU in the Pinstripe bowl. I may have a very different opinion depending on what RU and Maryland do this weekend.
Except for the ease of travel- Pinstripe is by far the least desirable Bowl for the die hard fans that go to the bowls and for the team. To even try to argue that is just stupid."Least desirable" according to who? A few guys on this message board? Phoenix does absolutely nothing for me. That’s because we were:What?
Stop denigrating one Bowl over another and appreciate the fact someone, somewhere is inviting us. It took 27 years between our first and second bowls. It's been 9 years since we qualified by our record. It's fine to want one Bowl game over another. But stop insulting these post-season destinations... or would you rather go another decade pining just to get to any post season game?
Seriously? Because Ash had us wandering the bowl wilderness for nine years (Gator Bowl backdoor bid excepted), we are not allowed to prefer certain destinations over others? What?

Keeping in mind the over/under was 4 wins back in August, I'm super excited about where we stand. It's fine to reset expectations and have preferences, but for 2023 I'll be happy with any bowl that will have us. That said, this is my order of preference:What?

Would it though?Keeping in mind the over/under was 4 wins back in August, I'm super excited about where we stand. It's fine to reset expectations and have preferences, but for 2023 I'll be happy with any bowl that will have us. That said, this is my order of preference:
1. Citrus
2. Tie Vegas or Music City
4. Pinstripe
5. Guaranteed Rate
6. Quick Lane
Regarding Guaranteed Rate, I would be much more excited about it if it wasn't on the 26th. My impression is the overall experience would be akin to the 2005 Insight Bowl which was outstanding. But as we've discussed, the odds of Pinstripe not taking us are pretty slim so it likely won't be anything to think about.
As far as us needing 1 or 2 more wins to make one of those top 3, it also depends on what other teams are doing. If Maryland can beat Nebraska on Saturday, the Huskers may not even get eligible. That would be huge for RU in the pecking order.
Plenty wrong...Nothing wrong with the Pinstripe bowl. Easy to get to. We'd have home field advantage. The cold weather suits our run first team. Probably gives us the best advantage compared to any other bowl.
Playing in a dome vs a high-powered offense would not be ideal IMO.
These are definitely good points.Plenty wrong...
Stupid location
Outside
Traditionally lousy field conditions
Terrible site lines for football
But as I have previously stated, that's where I think and have thought we end up.
Me too. I'd love to know how many folks here with opinions have been to both Pinstripes (I've been to 4) and the Quick Lane (stayed in team hotel, met former players, and got late night pictures with trophy by some crazy luck).I went to the last QuickLane bowl and thought it was perfectly fine. Good drive out to Detroit, the pregame partying was solid, the stadium is pretty decent. I'd go back.
The other consideration besides everything else is who would we play in NYC? A game against a fairly local school we would perhaps normally play? ... That's another negative consideration IF it were to come to.Pinstripe will have their choice of us if an earlier bowl doesn't select us first.
Kind of sucks but man- it is so great to even have these problems! PS is so much better than the last decade.
The ONLY people that like the PS bowl is someone that would not travel to an away game and can just drive in spend 4 hours and drive out. The School may be cool with it too as they would not be paying airfair for players and staff/staff family) and hotel rooms for all of the staff and family as well. Much cheaper for Rutgers.
But for players- it just sucks. For player families that would be able to normally travel to a bowl- it sucks, for fans that normally travel- it sucks
But still better than nothing and most likely where we end up.
