No it doesn't. It doesn't mean a thing.Your first paragraph made me laugh out loud.
Your last paragraph is why you should not be taken seriously by anyone.
I'm not a LFL'er. But that program's success is a big part of the AD's job requirement here at MSU.
A $60MM football investment is really going to piss off all the losers on here who keep yelling about how poor MSU is
We have an entire 100 yard field. The only thing it’s missing is a goal post on the one side where the baseball infield is. Is it the nicest in the SEC? Hell no. But it does exist, and it is functional. Its pretty much only used for baseball in January preseason practices, and in the Fall when football outdoor practice is in full swing anyway. There aren’t really any scheduling conflicts.well, half of one. For half the time.
No it doesn't. It doesn't mean a thing.
We could miss a Regional the next 5 years, but if football wins and we have success, the AD is fine. You reverse that, and football is terrible but we make the postseason in baseball, the AD is canned. This is true at every SEC school, Missisippi State is no exception, as bad as all the nerds on here desperately want that to not be true.
Florida didn't even have an indoor practice facility until 2020 and they seemed to do OK without one. I mean yeah, this is nice and all, but it's not like top football recruits are suddenly going to come running to Starkville.
Now if we can only get a night game. **They will after they see those new DWS LED Disco Lights when they make their official visits
Sarcasterisks aside, you bring up a good point. If our suck keeps us at primarily 11 AM and 3 PM kickoffs, investing in LED lights is like pissing into the wind. Now if we can only get a night game. **
How much did you give to the NIL?It's easier to put the nameBilly W. Howard Sr.on a building than it is a football team.
Woah woahThe Howard's have a ton of money, so i'm curious why they didn't give this donation during the previous 3-4 Administrations? Just a coincidence i'm sure.
17 the baseball program and dorks like you that act like what happens in baseball matters to Mississippi State or affects the AD's job whatsoever. It's a sport that loses money every year so losers like you can have a circle jerk with all the other fat 17s in the LFL.
Worst. Fans. In. America. It's 17ing depressing reading the comments on this. We just had a $60MM football investment and people are complaining
The Baseball Mostly portion of the fan base has had a pretty good week with all the talk about hiring an elite coach. Hopefully, Selmon realizes we can’t keep pumping money into baseball like we’re a top-half SEC athletic dept. I wonder how much of the coaching talk is real and how much is agents getting their clients raises/better facilities. No it doesn't. It doesn't mean a thing.

And with the price of eggs, we will make a fortune. There's your NIL money. A true multi use building. But at least State will lay some eggs in style… **
They were until the China tariffs since it's all made over there now***I keep waiting on the Peavey family to put some bad *** speakers in the stadium. *****
Right, be glad. They weren't going give players that much. The Howards can write some of that off on taxes. This group can complain about anything. It's 17ing depressing reading the comments on this. We just had a $60MM football investment and people are complaining
Add seats. I stopped giving and moved all my donations to football and basketball because I can never get a seat unless I get there 3 hours early and run in with all my family. I'm not buying seats for everyone at $200 a seat eitherState, in its traditional manner, is 20 years behind everyone else. The only exception being the Baseball field, which was very forward thinking at that time. Now if we could only find some baseball NIL funding to buy a team.
This. We aren't poor. We've just had poor leadershipYou're right. Byrne, Stricklin, and Cohen's bitchass couldn't get it done. It took Selmon two years and he's pulling in the largest investments in MSU athletics history. It's making some of you sick.
He is right about college baseball. It's a regional minor sport that loses money. Its national profile is lower than women's basketball and softball. It's about on par with college hockey.Your first paragraph made me laugh out loud.
Your last paragraph is why you should not be taken seriously by anyone.

This is fact.No it doesn't. It doesn't mean a thing.

Those things don't help in recruiting much now. On the other hand NOT having one, and a dedicated one for football, hurts you in recruiting.Wouldn’t we rather use that money to buy athletes? This isn’t 10 years ago when practice facilities could make or break you in recruiting.
Good. If it works like that we need to remove seats at the baseball stadium, all of them.Add seats. I stopped giving and moved all my donations to football and basketball because I can never get a seat unless I get there 3 hours early and run in with all my family. I'm not buying seats for everyone at $200 a seat either
This is burning money vs a long term investment. That is needed, money and proper faculties will lure players. If I had $60MM to give to State athletics, I would buy players:
- $42MM for football
- $12MM for basketball
- $6MM for baseball
I'm not arguing the profitability of college baseball. I will argue your stupid comment about women's basketball and softball. That's retarded. It might be the most retarded thing you've ever posted, which is quit the statement. Anyway, some of y'all can't seem to stay on point. He is right about college baseball. And when the Super League happens we will have the nicest baseball facilities in the G5 or whatever the losers are called. Maybe State fans would be happier in a lower conference not having to play super powers week in and week out in football. It will REALLY suck if Ole Miss makes the cut and we don't because our football program wasn't up to snuff and theirs was.I'm not arguing the profitability of college baseball. Baseball is a big deal at Mississippi State. It was before it was a big deal anywhere else. Now it's a big deal in the SEC. Investing in the baseball program is part of the cost of doing business in the SEC. Are we going to act like an SEC institution or are we just going to fold it up and head to the sunbelt?
The Mississippi State family at large cares about baseball, regardless of what a few fools around here think.
The AD can't fumble the baseball program here. Period, full stop.
Why do you think this is an either/or situation? I keep seeing this comment and it makes zero sense.Wouldn’t we rather use that money to buy athletes? This isn’t 10 years ago when practice facilities could make or break you in recruiting.
The point is that you have to do both. If Lebby gets us to 15-0 and a natty next year, Selmon still gets fair evaluation and criticism for how he handled baseball. You can't just go all in on football and let everything else go to hell. You have to do it all. That's the cost of doing business in the SEC. Baseball doesn't make money, but it's not the niche sport some think it is, either. I get that it's a big deal to State fans. It's not a big deal to the TV networks who will have a say in who makes the cut when the next round of conference realignment happens in 10 years. If you're okay with being left out, then by all means let's funnel finite resources into a non-revenue sport. The point is that you have to do both. Are we an SEC school or not? Do you think Carolina or Kentucky aren't going to invest in baseball? So basically you believe during the conference realignment process, they evaluate the school's... baseball program?
Holy 17 our fans are so stupid
If this is the attitude here, we're already left out.I get that it's a big deal to State fans.
