As long as these alumni are willing pay all this money, nothing will change. This part isn't the NCAA's fault or any attorney's fault.......it's the boosters who don't want any rules.
Buy a championship! It started with Saban at Alabama and nothing has changed but the name of the team. The name of the game now is separate the fans from their money! Gambling, corruption, NIL and TV revenue is all that's left of college football. Are you not entertained?

We keep saying that every year, and every year the prices keep going up.
Which is why it’s impossible to ever get too excited about a number that’s being floated around for State’s NIL. I don’t care what number you give me because we’re surrounded by two dozen programs that will have more.

That said, we should have enough to field a Top 25-35 caliber team more years than not, and we haven’t come close to that in recent years

With Simmons transferring. Is there any doubt he wasn't practically guaranteed a favorable outcome?

Meanwhile. I'd be good money we can't get Brenen Thompson anywhere near approved for another year.

The boosters didn’t create the mess.

They are paying for it though and I’d be willing to bet a lot of them want a “salary cap”.

Does the clearinghouse publish the contract values they approve? Would be great info to have - so probably not.

I’m really surprised Chambliss would stay with the main offensive staff leaving.

must have a gf at OM

but impressive move for them to keep him if he does get another year

this will be like most things in life 90/10, 10% of the fan base will pay 90% of the money to NIL. My opinion is that the average college fan has a had a connection with their colleges players as they were on campus for 2-4 years. They had plausible deniability that they were getting paid because it wasn't out in the open and was minute compared to now. it has ballooned into the millions of dollars. Now that the contracts are made public and there is an annual free agency, many fans will say, "I'm out" and this will translate to declines in ticket sales and viewership. As someone said earlier in this thread, priorities will shift for those discretionary funds. I personally am sitting here looking at my 2026 commitment thinking that would be a nice vacation.

Instead of getting on board with the future of college football, Missisippi State fans keep sitting back saying, "oh, this won't last, college football will die, people aren't going to continue to watch and support." Meanwhile, ratings have never been higher for college football, the money has never been more, and the prices keep going up. There is no bubble and it will not burst. If we don't want to live in this environment, then we should go down to the Sun Belt conference where we can sit back and enjoy our version of rah rah college football like it was in the good old days.

They damn sure did create this mess. Look no further than the SWC and SMU. They ABSOLUTELY started it all. They created a fake 'demand' that we now try and call NIL. Well, that fake demand was created in the 70s/80s, well before TV money was through the roof and well before any video game. True NIL values pale in comparison to the fake demand created by boosters in order to buy a championship.

Biggest fallacy whatsoever is feeling sorry for the poor boosters who are having to "fund this mess".

They are the equivalent of NFL fans directly paying money to NFL players and a testimony to ignorance of college football fans . The people making the money off of these players should be paying the players...duh .
We you can't put your finger on who actually is making the money off the players. Because there's no singular or specific bad guy. It's the whole institution and a bunch of people drawing middle class salaries. You may could say the coaches, because they are the ones drawing in millions.

"Making the money" should be replaced with the true shareholders, which is the booster/fanbase pride. That's why they pay the money - the pride of winning. Period.

I tend to agree, people been saying it was gonna bust even back in 2008. I remember some guy saying it's the most recession proof business we have. I do think the prices may eventually constrict.

Anyway, as far as us, I think our rich guys are doing their part. We have 'enough' money, but don't have the coaching staff with the sense to use it.

Well if you want to compete in an era where almost all of your peers have more money/resources than you do, the least you could do was hire a competent coaching staff. We have very stupid leadership.

" Top 25-35 caliber team more years than not" that absolutely can be done and had a chance to happen even this year.......with right head coach .

I don’t feel sorry for the boosters but if you think they are the only responsible party or even the most responsible, I can’t help you.

The person demanding $5 million is pretty responsible as well.

The average fan demanding a coach being fired is responsible as well. You can’t win without players. You can’t get players without money.

I believe all these billionaires are using company funds and none is out their personal cash hoards. They see all this as a necessary expense (to the business) and therefore they don't care there is no ROI.

Some whales are so profitable that it isn't but a small dent on the bottom line. However it may catch up to the smaller fish on down the line, see John Ruiz for Miami. Although he denies everything.

This is AMERICA, dammit! We don't need salary caps and communism!

You gotta pay to play -- those blessed with resources and who know how to invest wisely, will reap the benefits.

Like our dear friends in Oxford.

If college football means anything to you, skip that family vacation, send your kids to junior college for a few years, stop giving to all those other charities, including your church. Do you really need health insurance?

Our football program doesn't want your $100s or even your $1,000s anymore. We need your 10s of 1,000s!

Don't give up.... Don't ever give up.
