jailed but never arrested or charged with anything. and didn't do enough to be fired for cause so the school had to write him a huge check. no wonder this country has more people in jail than any other.
So families went to Art Briles after their daughters were raped, not the police? I'm sorry but I have an abundance of common sense and that doesnt pass the smell test. Help the girls seek help with authorities, lol. If only there were a number that you could authorities on in emergency situations instead of having to go to Art Briles.Larry, did u read the report?....families came to him and he turned them away...saying that maybe they were over reacting...very sad....he should have been helping these girls seek help with authorities instead became more worried about winning football games

why hasnt he been charged? since you know he's guilty of that, perhaps you know when he'll be arrested and charged.U didn't read squat....lol....either that or u support rapist and those who cover up RAPE as a crime....I will let u choose
there you go extrapolating again. you didnt answer my Q so I assume you don't have an answer. I feel sorry for you: you don't know all the facts, few do, so you make them up.Shavers...I feel sorry for u....u so want to win a GAME that u are willing to hire a guy who led a football program that turned it's head away from RAPE victims.......why do u feel a need to support this guy when almost all of the literate world understands what he stands for....we need to hire a guy who orders a rapist to run the stadium stairs as punishment for their horrible offense...wow
Baylor settled this becauswhy hasnt he been charged? since you know he's guilty of that, perhaps you know when he'll be arrested and charged.
I can READ the report....google the report..please....but it doesn't matter ...for whatever reasons u continue to want to believe this guy didn't help create a very ugly culture in Waco...u can believe what I want...im,just happy he won't ever coach at UKthere you go extrapolating again. you didnt answer my Q so I assume you don't have an answer. I feel sorry for you: you don't know all the facts, few do, so you make them up.
hardly. if he was guilty of a crime, hell, if he was merely charged with a crime, they woudnt have paid him squat. but he hasn't been. Some of you guys are just embarrassing yourselves. The lengths you'll go to in the name of winning a football game. I think you'd advocate hiring Hitler if he could coach.
What's that?
"Hitler never killed anyone!! He wasn't even around those camps, none of them! Check your facts, and stop spreading misinformation. Himmler, he was the guy - Hitler was in Berlin the whole time!"
And you need to stop making the idiotic point that Baylor giving Briles $20 million somehow implies he's innocent. It just makes you look stupid.....
Holy Cow!!! Sooooo much misinformation on this thread.
Heidi, you need to just stop. Where in the hell has it ever been reported that Briles told a victim that they were "over-reacting to being raped?" Show me the link.
The fact is there have been two players convicted of sexually assaulted, although Heidi would have you believe it was half the team. Neither one of these players played ONE..SINGLE..DOWN after being ACCUSED.
Did Briles make mistakes, yes. He has said as much. However, there has been zero evidence that he covered up rape. Don't you think that if he did cover up rape or there was "a culture of rape", Baylor would be one of the nearly 200 universities being investigated by the DOE?
Heidi and others need to stop taking the words of ESPN as gospel. They don't know everything just like no one else does. The only people that do know, the Baylor BOR, isn't talking.
I've lost faith in stoops too but....I'm not selling my soul, like a fine Baptist school in Texas did to win games...I only hope that the AD...never does either
You are the king of straw man arguments. You slant everything into a new argument. You've been doing it for a whole day. Don't you get tired of spinning? good link, lots of info. doesn't change my stance of Briles at all as there was nothing in it I hadn't already read. but puts Ken starr in a really bad lightYou are the king of straw man arguments. Yes it does, but your "I have to see it to believe it" stance is just your way of rationalizing why it's ok to hire Briles. If everyone took your extreme proof requirement, precious few criminals would ever be convicted. There comes a point where circumstantial evidence is enough for anyone other than a zealot with an agenda. There is little reason to discuss the matter with such people as they will not change their position. That isn't a good quality, by the way. I'd suggest to everyone to just let you believe what you want. Every reasonable mind sees the situation pretty well by now, even if they don't like it. Those who are unreasonable are simply a waste of time.good link, lots of info. doesn't change my stance of Briles at all as there was nothing in it I hadn't already read. but puts Ken starr in a really bad light

Of course Briles won't be hired. Neither will any of the other names being blurted on the board this week.He promoted a culture where girls were being RAPED...that SOB should never coach on a college campus again....daughters were being RAPED....for those of u calling for Briles....get a grip...u have lost perspective about things

Pretty obvious you aren't a Briles fan and his morals/ethics, what is your stance on Butch Jones ? Plus the Waco link was weak in terms of providing irrefutable evidence against Briles, especially from a criminal view
beating a dead horse. limited public info, lots of PR firm and media spin, attempts to imply and impugn to transfer blame. in that vacuum many just start believing what they want to. my opinion is Briles way more likely to be caught up in something than masterminding it all. right now the only thing I see him quilty of is being naive and not paying attention to a situation developing around him.Can anyone say in their own words what this monster did? How many of his players were accused of rape? Which player did he not immediately dismiss from the team after being accused of rape? What did he do specifically that was immoral?
I have never said Briles committed a criminal act, my prior post used it as an analogy. It isn't that I dislike Briles, he may be a decent guy and he can clearly coach. My issue is he gambled on some players and it ended up biting him in the butt, not to mention the tragic consequences some young ladies suffered. It is also clear that he and/or his assistants were not proactive enough in handling some very serious situations. He has shown terrible judgment in several ways in this mess and now many on here want to repeat the gamble he took but this time with him. It's the same gamble. "I know X is really good and has a questionable past, but he can help us win. I think we can keep him under control here". The liability isn't worth the risk. Briles should have reached that conclusion with several of his players, Sam in particular. Almost every school WILL reach that conclusion with him. I can't respond about Jones as I haven't looked into it at all.Pretty obvious you aren't a Briles fan and his morals/ethics, what is your stance on Butch Jones ? If it wasn't a criminal act, what did he actually do?I have never said Briles committed a criminal act, my prior post used it as an analogy. I'm cant respond about Jones as I haven't looked into it at all.
The standard should (obviously) not be whether Briles committed crimes. He was in charge of what turned out to be a very problematic situation. It ended up costing him his job, and also the president of the university. It was a situation, though not as bad, was similar to Penn St. Would you be defending Paterno the same way you're defending Briles?
The other piece of this that everyone is missing is that it involves campus rape, which is one of the biggest issues facing higher education today. It is totally different from what Petrino did or any traditional NCAA cheating issues.
If it wasn't a criminal act, what did he actually do?
No, his post was accurate. I also expanded my earlier reply to you.Your post is without merit
You don't know all that about Hitler. You're just repeating what you've heard.Hitler started the Holocaust, ordered jews into concentration camps, ordered jews to be gassed, started WWII, and is responsible for millions of deaths.
What did Art Briles do?
He'll start posting links to prove his point next. I wonder if it will ever dawn on him......You don't know all that about Hitler. You're just repeating what you've heard.

No, I stated what Hitler did and now Ill ask you what Art Briles did. You wont say what he did tho. I wonder if it will ever dawn on you. He'll start posting links to prove his point next. I wonder if it will ever dawn on him......
So no?Can anyone say in their own words what this monster did? How many of his players were accused of rape? Which player did he not immediately dismiss from the team after being accused of rape? What did he do specifically that was immoral?
Cal and Briles are not similar situations. What Briles did was a fact. Everyone knew the stuff about Cal was nonsense. And even if it were true, its not even close to the level of covering up rape.
We've already been over this. Stick your head in the sand if you wish. This is my last post with you on this matter. No, I stated what Hitler did and now Ill ask you what Art Briles did. You wont say what he did tho. I wonder if it will ever dawn on you.
Thats why I keep asking. What did Art Briles do? How is my head in the sand if I'm asking what he did? I just want 1 person to tell me.We've already been over this. Stick your head in the sand if you wish. This is my last post with you on this matter.
The young lady who was raped did. Here is a very interesting timeline. Petersons email towards the end is particularly damning.
