Tiger playing?
Fortunately, the best Asian golfer ever will not be playing in this. He's still trying to recover from steroid abuse.

I would like to see JB win, but this is not a big hitters type of course, more of a precision iron player type layout.

Good point.

Todd Hamilton, Ben Curtis, Paul Lawrie, Bill Rodgers, Ian Baker-Finch, and Rich Beem are probably better examples of obscure players winning a major.

If you ever want to read a great golf book then pick up Bud, Sweat, & Tees by Alan Shipnick. It is his account of following around a hard drinking, hardy partying unknown tour pro named Rich Beem.

17 man draft tonight. We each picked 6 players and auctioned off the field. Dustin Johnson and Lee Westwood were thrown into field at the start. 10th pick.

If Thomas is going to try and sport those duds, he needs to get some that fit. Terrible attempt.

Nice round by Poulter. I would actually like to see him win it. I know a lot of people don't like him but the way he treats the Ryder Cup makes me like him. I know he is on the other team but I can tell how much it means to him. I wish some of the US players would have the same attitude about it.

I used to like Poulter, for same reasons you stated. But he's an insufferable jackass on his twitter feed so I hope he never wins again.

Kuchar tied for the lead. Will he continue the streak of majors being won by first-timers?

Kent Bulle had a nice day -2 68. I have not lived in kentucky in some while. Is he from there? Seems to be buddies with the KSR crew.

I really enjoyed that book. Steve Duplantis, his caddy, was heavily featured in the book. He's the caddy that got run over by a taxi and killed back in 08.

Lol, he's got a 1 shot lead. He very well may win, sure looks the part right now -- but this your 1st Open (or Major?)

Glad to have you.

I've watched enough golf to know that if Jordan drops this eagle putt there in no way he can lose unless something happens and someone else wins. It ain't over...

1 inch of rain last night there and now little wind and sunny this morning at The Open. They will eat this course up today if this weather holds.

Seeing Todd Hamilton on the list of tee times made me wonder, who is the biggest fluke winner ever in a major championship?

Limited to modern times, last 40 years or so I will say:

British - Todd Hamilton, although Van de Velde would have topped him. Would have said Paul Lawrie, but he made the Euro Ryder Cup team last year . . .
US Open - Lucas Glover (Andy North a close 2nd, although if you win it twice, hard to say it was a fluke)
PGA - YE Yang (1st time EVER that Tiger had coughed up a Sunday lead in a major, and has not won one since)
Masters - Larry Mize comes immediately to mind, although Trevor Immelman has been a goner for many years now as well. Think he had a ton of injuries
Ian Baker-Finch British Open in 1991. In 4-5 years, his game was so far gone that he couldn't make any cuts.
