JB has early become the whipping boy for the slow play brigade. He’s certainly slow and really slow at times, but like others have said, there are guys slower. Day got some heat like 2 years ago and nothing again. Spieth never gets hit on it.
That being said, JB has to speed up. I don’t really care about pace of play, but a lot of people do. The stuff about him not even having his glove on until it’s his turn is ridiculous. That’s something he’s gotta change.
On the flip side, I played with the extreme opposite of the slow play spectrum last week. A guy I played first hit first on every tee regardless of honors. If someone made a birdie and he got a triple he was teed up and swinging before I even got my driver out of my bag. Then on the fairways he’d hit and go directly to his ball so our playing partners were hitting directly over him at times. He wasn’t off to the side. There were probably 4 holes he was standing just off the green when someone was 130 yards away hitting their approach. Playing fast is one thing, but doing it to where it’s getting in the way of everyone else in the group is too much IMO and wasn’t all that enjoyable. I’m a fast golfer. If I’m a single I can play in 2.5 hours depending on how many extra putts, chips I hit, but that was way too much IMO.
