Rutgers lost , how they play the rest of season is when improvement claim is valid.
It wasn't the same old Rutgers today, but the RU offense didn't do as well as hoped.
So on offense proves first choice
The RU D makes third choice a good one
So with that im mind
stick me in middle choice

The reality is that we only played 1 competitive qtr of football.

The other 3 qtrs Michigan moved the ball at will and with ease. And our offense didn’t have a first down much of that time.

The reality is we have to at least be competitive in these games to start tilting perception. We were not. And we remain where we were with very little progress shown in my eyes.

By the way we have now lost something close to 40 games in a row to ranked teams ! That’s insane. It’s a miracle we still have any sort of fan base at all after the Ash era.

Can't get inside the 30 3 times and come away with 0 points. Failing on Third and fourth and short several times were also a killers. Hopefully against lesser talented teams those become points and 1st downs extending drives.

We had difficulty running early and thought we could pass effectively to open up the run.

Offense is still completely broken against teams with a pulse. Will get destroyed by PSU, OSU, Wisconsin, and Iowa per usual.

Also shows just how bad the ACC is, we’ve beat our ACC opponent every year the past 3 seasons.

Mainly I just wish we would’ve kicked the FG to get within one score - 17-10. We still probably lose but gifting them the touchdown really killed us in the game.

Frankly I think we should have kicked two field goals. Going up 10-7 would have been positive and then the other 3 could have made it 17-13. I realize this is after the fact but I do think we were planning like we shouldn’t have been there when we should.

Lesser Talented teams:
Me in @rutgersal mode-Penciled in Wins:
Indiana-sucks this year
MSU- Dumpster Fire
Iowa-we can do this
Wisconsin- Mellusi out for season
Maryland- Huge Maybe:

Me in Realistic Mode:
There are 2, maybe 3 wins in that group of 5 above. That puts RU as 6 or 7 wins. Up that to 4 wins, and it's a fantastic season.

Wrong as usual.
I guess you didn’t watch last year’s Iowa game.

Outside of 2014 and 2020 we rarely, if ever can score more than 7-17 points against these programs. Sometimes the score differential is massive, sometimes it is closer. But we just cannot score points. Once the 3 and outs start to build the score differential more often than not balloons.

Roughly the same result as prior years in final score and how the game progressed: hang in early, fail to score after Q1, completely fade after halftime. That doesn't mean progress hasn't been made; it remains to be seen if enough progress has been made to pick off more low-hanging fruit, like wobbly Michigan State. But it suggests only limited progress has been made.

The B1G final drive segment on Rutgers, the analyst said that Rutgers is much improved, and they are going to give a lot of teams on their schedule a hard time and win some games. There was more said, but all three in the studio praised Rutgers. And they don't lather every team up. Iowa took a beating in that show.

Win or lose, I mostly think “okay, on to the next game” without feeling compelled to form much in the way of conclusions or rationalizations. When it’s a really good win, I celebrate a little, with y’all, before moving on.

It‘s entertainment, not life.

Well, they could have kicked a field goal but then fans would have said it Schiano ball for trying to keep the score close but not going for the win.

Game was ok.
No way Michigan is a legit #2 but it was a good team.
Wimsatt looked ok.
Passes could use a bit more mustard and the mesh delay doesn't work
RU moved up from awful to okish

Not sure what you are getting at here, we lost 27-10 and were down 27-3 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Once again, could not score more than 7-17 points against these programs. I don’t care about yards gained or anything, I care about points on the board.

I’m really not sure what to make of this team yet. Michigan is a top ten team. I thought RU was going to perform a little better but oh well.

The games I’m interested in to see where this team is at are MSU, Iowa and Indiana. Wisconsin is Wisconsin. Maryland seems ahead of RU at this point. Ohio St and Penn St are better than Michigan IMO. We’ll see.

Yes. And against most other teams in the country going for it would be the right call because not too many teams are going to completely shut down our run game that way. Most games we’ll be able to grind out a yard or 2.

because some RU fans look for moral victories when it's points that matter

we need to score more, that is an understatement

For whatever reason, Rutgers plays Michigan better than the other beast. I mean RU beat Michgan once and gave them some good quarters. Ohio St on the other hand has been brutal. I have yet to watch a full OSU game.

I wouldnt say they moved at will UM had just over 400yds. QB play was a wash they both had similar stats

I think this is right on.

Until the season started, I thought your team would win maybe three games. Now I am convinced that they are going to play in a bowl game...

Any thoughts on Maryland? Good first game against B1G competition. Did MSU suck, or is Maryland rolling?

MSU didn't suck. In fact, they had more yards from scrimmage than Maryland. The Spartans will win some conference games this season. I saw them referred to as a dumpster fire, but they don't look like that to me.

Tagovialoa didn't have a good game, and Hemby hardly gained any yards at all, but the Terps won easily. I think they are growing into a deeper, more solid program, and, although I won't try to convince anybody here, Locksley is a good coach. So I would say they are rolling.

The schedule works out well. The automatic blowout losses are staggered this year, and I think that helps keep morale up, ha ha...

I'm neutral on Locksley. He seems like a good guy, but it seems (could be wrong here) his teams can be undisciplined with penalties. Would love the RU Maryland games to return to being more competitive.

21/36 for 223 yards, 3 TD and 1 is not a good game? Oh, how the mighty have fallen!

See that Noah Kim got benched, but he is apparently still their starter. 2 picks and one by the backup and 2 fumbles will lose most games.

I'm 100% sure that your wish will be granted in a few weeks. That is going to be tough game to win for either team...

ETA: yeah, you are right about our quarterback. That's a good game, I guess I am expecting too much somehow...
