Yeah I would’ve liked Butler’s chances the last couple of years for a smash mouth physical game, this year not so much. Ideally Butler’s offense need to start out fast to help the defense.
Are you a Butler guy? Idk who pulls for who these days lol.

4 and 5 for Butler are going to be a handful for us. We have the talent in the secondary… we are young. The majority of that unit are sophomores. They make their share of plays, but have gotten beat some too. Thats the match up I think. I’ll take our front 7 against anyone (fun fact, we only lose 1 starter this year, everyone else returns).

butler doesn’t look like a team that takes a lot of deep shots…. But they look exceptional at taking the 5 yard pass, for 50 yards. Very very good YAC team

Yes I am a Butler guy and seen them play since 99. Just because I root for them doesn’t mean I won’t call it how I see it. They have trouble stopping the run, now that could because of injuries but it’s still an issue. Butler is a better passing team than running team this year. I have seen in short yardage situations on fourth down Butler opts to throw the ball because they don’t impose their will physically on the lines consistently. If it rains I would favor Mooresville based on the fact they have a consistent run game. The rain would negate the speed advantage Butler might have. I think it would be tight either way

Haha two teams that couldn’t be more polar opposite as far as styles of play. It’s the type of match up that playoffs are all about. I don’t have any insight on butler these days, that’s why I asked if you were a Butler guy.

I’m excited for this one. Butler is one of those iconic NC programs that I’ve wanted us to play for some time.

Makes sense to me. Butler has had lean years since the championship years (8-10 wins a year). Their admin had dipped during that time as well, they competed in the 4A playoffs spring 2021 and were a half away from going to the championship. They had an uneven year last year but won conference. I like the potential of this group because most of their impact players are sophomores that have D1 offers. The power shifted from the Butler/Indy area of Mecklenburg to the north with Chambers/Hough/Creek. Butler remains steady

Hales has won State Championships as an OC, and Stone has won a couple as DC for Mallard Creek. Don't know a lot about MHS staff.

Doesn't Mooresville have a turf field? That would pretty much negate the conditions affecting Butler's speed.

Affects the passing game more than the speed (the weather that is. I think the two are close as far as just general speed goes)

Butler isn’t running the ball effectively and can’t stop the run with several guys out in the front 7. If you can’t get it done in the trenches then that could be bad news. Only thing that can save them is their stud QB and some decent WRs.

From what I’m gathering from Brad Panovich Meteorologist the projected forecast is rains coming Thursday night and moving out by Friday 5 pm. Of course timing will be determined. With Mooresville having turf will fair good for Friday’s evening game.

From what I just seen, looks like rain for both nights now. I know it’s not ideal but from a Financial standpoint the best option maybe Saturday night. For most schools football is the big support for rest of the sports.

We want to play in the rain. Saturday is a no go.

I could be wrong on how I see it. Butler could come and beat Mooresville good. Could be one of those nights

Butler hasn’t blown out a good team this year so this game should be competitive. Butler would have to play a turnover free game and play the run better to blow out Mooresville. I could see Mooresville jumping on Butler early and Butler storming back to make the game tight in the fourth.

Mooresville has a D1 caliber RB, and a few guys on the defense that will be D1 (none are seniors). DT and our sophomore LB I think could be Power 5
Mr. Do Everything sophomore AJ Graham is a name to watch out for at Mooresville.
Mooresville has 2 excellent backs (D1 caliber)in Howell and Westmoreland. I think Mooresville's defense will be the difference. Just don't see Butler scoring alot

Are they selling tickets at the gate. Depending on the weather if I go or not. Thinking about going after work I will miss the first quarter.

How good is this Mooresville team in comparison to the ones in the past?
I think the best thing about this team we haven’t seen since 2011 team is There a True Bond and Unselfishness on this team. We are gritty on Defense but we struggle on Pass D but Overall I would put us in top 10-20 D in our Metro tbh imo bc We may get us some big play but we don’t break enough we Avg 40 pts n give maybe 28 so D is vocal point of why this team is very good

Offensively I wouldn’t say this is the best offense we ever had but It’s Good enough to win games - Our O line really very well n Prob one betters we have had but We struggled at times there, QB has come along way n He done very well but I think he will be in different position in college - Our RB is just as good as past RB before him so It’s hard where he falls in Ranks but He a very tough n solid back.

This team would prob be in Top 5-10 to Most Blue Devil Faithful imo as we had very good teams in 90s n early 2000s n 2011 so

Biggest thing is Penalties n Turnovers tonight imo

Better. Probably right up there with our 2011 team. Tbh I’d say we are a year ahead of expectations… this was the season I expected to have next year (we return the entirety of our defense).
