Butler vs Irmo

Definitely got Irmo winning..but what’s the status on Lawrence? If he can’t play they can’t be that much competitive.

Butler had a couple chances to win this game. A drop touchdown pass in the fourth quarter by #3 with 20 seconds left was a back breaker. Butler then had a chance with a few seconds left with the ball at the one yard line but time expired. I like the decision by Butler to go for two in overtime, but didn’t like that Lawrence wasn’t in the game. They ran the wildcat play with Williams that had worked throughout the game, but he fumbled the snap and they lost. This one hurts, but I like what I saw.

Very good and poised. He killed us with his running ability. The last drive to tie the game with a 1:40 seconds left was clutch. He did that after he threw a interception the previous drive.
He looked incredible. Best player on the field. Is he playing QB at tech or some other position? He is hard to tackle in the open field as well!
I thought butlers offense would pick up and they sure did. Passing attack looks good with Lawrence and Irmo had trouble stopping the pass. Again, when fully healthy, this team is better than some want to give credit for on this board. Richmond game was weird with no Lawrence playing.
Butlers defense? Once again, that sh*t sucks. One break I’ll give the defensive coaches is that since watching butler since 2005 for me, this is the weakest group of linebackers I’ve seen at butler.
Hopefully the puppies turn it up after non conference and turn into real dogs

After Irmo went up 2 touchdowns I thought the defense played well. The bad snap set up Irmo in the third quarter with a short field to take the lead. Butler had several personal foul penalties in the game one of which help lead to the second score for Irmo. Butler isn’t that big on the DL so they don’t get good pressure up front.I thought butlers offense would pick up and they sure did. Butler is 0-3 so they are what their record says they are but i am hopeful they will improve.
Don’t get me started on all those personal foul calls smh lol. Someone needs to tell these kids they ain’t that good to give up those kind of yards 4-5 times a game. Like you said they are 0-3 they better act like it. They’re not some invincible team that can afford those.
To me butler has plenty of size on the DL. It’s the LBs that are damn near all tweeners excepts for 1 of them. The secondary is super young they start a sophomore back there as well and both corners are juniors. The defense is soft to me like nobody is eager to hit someone and the DL surprisingly is getting pushed back even with good size. #0 #55 and #2 are really good sized DL. The defense in the 1st half kept giving up bubble screens for 10-12 yards. They didn’t want to someone on top of that which killed them, & that’s on the DC. If I was butler I would think of moving #8 to LB from safety maybe. They need to get more athletic and physical in the box. The LBs are weak, no other way to put it.
Wide open dropped pass to end the game, crazy contested catch over 2 defenders at the 1 with time running out, and a terrible snap at the 2 pt conversion. Butler definitely should’ve won this game. I agree with the decision to go for 2 though. Kids were cramping all game and it was better to end it right there and live with the result, rather than potentially have more starters cramp and miss time. Did not expect the game to be this close and honestly expected Irmo to win by at least 2 scores. There’s going to be growing pains with a new staff, but to almost beat one of the best teams in SC on week 3 is a very good sign. Next week looks a little more interesting, but I still expect weddington to win comfortably. 0-4 isn’t a start anyone wants on their record, but with the lack of talent in the conference I can see a 5-5 finish or even a 6-4 finish. If they can pull it out against Indy of course. I think come playoff time, butler will be a dangerous team not a lot of teams will want to see.
The key to the season is besting Providence. They lose that game I expect 3-7.
