Buzz Williams leaves Marquette to take Virginia Tech job

Virginia Tech has never been good at basketball and fired probably the best coach they ever had (Seth Greenburg) who took them to several NIT's. They also went 2-16 in the ACC last year. Yet they hire Buzz Williams. We hire Rick Ray. Amazing.

He had Marquette for goodness sake.

Repeating it as a 7 year deal. Probably little expectations and comparable pay.

Even with that information, I still think he had to have another reason. Maybe he hated the AD or the area he was in.

There has been tension. Buzz was mentioned at both South Florida and Auburn too. Plus you have to think that the prospect of coaching in the ACC is better than coaching in what's left of the Big East.
