Every single UK big man starter (those who didn't transfer) under Cal has been drafted or ended up in the NBA:

Cousins - lottery
Orton - 1st round
Kanter - lottery
Harrelson - 2nd round
Davis - lottery
Noel - lottery
Johnson - 2nd round
WCS - lottery
Towns - lottery
Skal - 1st round
Bam - lottery

All of them played at least 2 seasons in the NBA.

I've often found those types of narratives questionable.

We've seen many cases where a kid just told their parents they were picking the school. Can't think of anyone who picked a school they didn't want accept for that power forward who picked Missouri over Kentucky years ago, Leo Criswell, and cried on commitment day.

Noel's mom wanted G-Town; Nerlens won out.
Johnson's dad wanted Texas; Keldon won out.
Harrisons' pops wanted Maryland; they won out.

The list goes on. If a kid wants a school, their parents defer to them. You're spot-on on this one.

I just don't get the fascination with Jalen Rose.

Has he ever coached anywhere a day in his life?

He's already a millionaire and has a cushy TV job.

Don't see Jalen Rose having the drive and motivation to be a recruiting ace.

He understands the game and has great insight, probably wouldn't be ideal to start as asst coach, maybe player development, similar to role rod Strickland played.
Despite his riches, still has the competitive drive.

Don't know where his name came up, but have 'heard' his name as possibly going into coaching. Knows the game at an elite level, I mean penny lacked any ncaa experience but we see where he is now, same as Mike miller, patrick ewing, Danny manning etc

Just thinking outside the box here but why in the hell would Carey Sr want his son to go Duke instead of his alma mater Miami??

My neighbor works with his dad in some capacity. That’s what his dad told him. Vernon really wants to go to UK but is waiting to see where the other top recruits end up before he makes a final decision. According to my neighbor, his dad prefers Duke or Miami where he played football. But it’s completley up to Vernon. Does this mean he will end up at UK? I have no idea... but my neighbor has absolutely zero reason to make something like that up. He’s meet Vernon a few times and had no idea he was the #1 recruit in country until his dad told him the schools that were recruiting him and he looked him up. I live in south Florida. I’d say things look pretty good for us, but obviously anything can happen.
