You have to be kidding me. I'm not saying Corey is a great alderman I'm merely saying that neither VanHorn nor Papas understand anything about what's going on in the city. I don't think at this time we need folks learning on the job. And just so we're on the same page I'd say that four years ago Corey had about as much of a clue as Papas does right now. Another thing I'd like to address, I don't understand why people get so surprised when elected officials flip flop and Corey changing his position on one issue, the road bond, isn't enough of a record for the label. And Corey made the right choice. Here's why, I would like to see a larger bond passed but without a long term comprehensive capital improvements plan, capital improvements budget, and land use plan we're just wasting our money. We're essentially taking out a loan to continue to do what we've always done which is patch. How can the board in good faith ask for that kind of money without a plan. But I digress.
Ask your friend Nick about important issues like a capital improvements plan, storm water drainage, parks and recreation, sewage, extending utilities to annexed areas, multi-modal transportation, two percent restaurant tax, and the like. I'll give him credit for at least attending some BOA meetings lately, but Marnita Henderson has been attending for more than a decade that doesn't make her a quality candidate either. If he's graduating does he intend to live in Starkville for his full term? A lot of what is on his platform he can do as a private citizen and student, particularly the beautification initiatives. Will he he still focus on this if he isn't elected? I've saw him in action fielding softballs at the Starkville Young Professionals forum which is where my clown statement comes from.
