Even though it doesn't seem likely is it possible? What if the only team they lose to is West Montgomery from now til playoffs... There are athletes on this team!!!

It's a little bit like buying a new car. If you have to ask the price, then you probably can't afford it. If you have to ask if Albemarle can turn it around......Probably Not!

A work in progress. I don't think that it will get worse after this year. I believe that Albemarle is Athletic and has good size

@KW23 all you can eat buffet, the J.V. team was put together 3 weeks ago.....some never even played football. Go figure.

Anyway, I'm not sure what you mean by "Turning it around" @InDogsWeTrust , but will they get better, most definitely. Will they be put out the first round of the playoffs......most definitely.

I like your attitude of telling it how you see it, but a little optimism wouldn't hurt

I dont think you will be put out in the first round unless you draw Murphy, rosman or Rville. Surely the Dogs could win vs Cherokee, Andrews or Hayesville. If not then you guys are in bad shape.

@InDogsWeTrust if you ever go back and ready my post before the beginning for the season, I am the most optimistic bulldog fan on here lol. But I'm all out of optimism and reality has set in.

@BK13T-$, more thank likely we will be 4-6 going in, facing Murphy (God forbid),Rosman or Rville....

But hey, I could be wrong.

The only skill position players coming back are at the QB and RB position that I know of. Yes we still have our two "Tubby" RB's coming back next year. We'll loose 16 Sr's this year. With the Sr's departing, we look to have only 27 that's actually played a down in high school, so the numbers will still be low unless the middle school has 70 players.

I hope our young guys can grow up quick and contribute. When January gets here, they need to be in the weight room from then until next December going forward.

Richmond has a freshman team. Since the Richmond is playing Hoke County in conference this weekend I am thinking AHS JV will play the Raiders freshman squad.

I was the first one going home from games and banging my head against the wall, but you have to be realistic. With the injuries/suspensions we had early on we were lucky we didn't get killed the first four games. We were in every game until the end of the game except for Concord. We definitely have a chance regardless of results to WM or NS, to win a state championship. WSHS and NSHS both had chances to beat us last year, with a completely healthy team. If NS fields the punt late in the fourth quarter, we are probably talking about if NS can win two in a row. The coach last year chose to play Nivens at QB to avoid the loss to WS, even though he wasn't supposed to play until the next game for throwing a computer out of a window. Coach Smith at least held his morals and took a loss holding out his two most talented backs in Emory and Bennett. He could have played them both against WS if he wanted. From what I hear we started a tackle Friday night from East Rowan that is about 6-3, 290lbs and played great! That is a game changer up front. He started the past two years at a 10 win 3a team. Not sure if KW has ever seen our fat tubby runningbacks but I guarantee that he nor WM wants anything to do with them from a physical standpoint. If we had Emory at WS we score 10+ and win that one. Long answer to an easy question is hell yeah we can turn this around and win a state championship at small 1a.

J.V.'s play Richmond Sr? Lol...,who schedules these? That's playing a varsity at the 2AA level.

One thing is for damn sure, no one can say we've never play anybody, that goes for Varsity (Concord) and now Richmond....damn!

Note my previous post, it is most likely their ninth grade team.

Since most of the teams in our conference don't have jv teams I guess we have to schedule whoever we can. Think the're working on a jv game with MP. The kids need live game situations no matter the outcome. Nothing like experience.

It will be the 9th grade team. Jaime Kimrey told me at the last home game they would be bringing their 9th grade team.

Are you sure it was East Rowan? They haven't had a 10 win season since 1997. I do agree with you that Coach Smith did the right thing by sitting out two of his best players when he could have played them in the West game. I don't agree with you saying this team can win a state championship this year. I hope I'm wrong but the lack of depth really hurts this team.

I agree with Dogs9. We have some good athletes but we just don't have enough. Lack of depth is killing us. WM will just wear us down.

I question the loyalty of two assistants to the HC. Until this is remedied, the Bulldogs will suffer and you will have your 5th HC in 5 years. Assistants are worth their weight in gold, and an assistant that can't get with the program hurts the team immensely.

@spiketomandjerry4 , I hope we can win a SC, but I don't see that being possible this year or the next year. This team still has a lot of question marks as well as the staff. Albemarle will not out "Athlete" anyone this year like they've done in the past. It has now come to where the coach has to coach and the players have to play. Perfect example, back in 2012 when Murphy came down and sucked the life out of Albemarle, Murphy did not have better athletes than we did, but they do have a darn good coach who exploited Albemarle's defense and ran it on the right side the whole night.....I'm still flabbergasted that Atkins did not adjust his defense, when he's been a defensive coach for 10+ years.

But it took me a while to figure out who you were Spike, and then it hit me....I know now :).

@Earnhardt Forever, I just know of the one assistant coach who's having an issue with the way the team is handled. But I agree. I hope they've sat down and talked.

As far as I know he lives in the Albemarle area. I do know that he owns a lawn care service here (Albemarle Lawn Care). I was told this yesterday from a player on the team that he had indeed resigned, stepped down, or whatever they do these days.

The show must go on.

I can almost bet you that the reason steams from the disagreement on the offensive style.

This may be a good thing. Best of wishes to him.

Volunteer coaching... All in...or get out of the way. (IMO....) Without fear of losing your "day job", a good intentioned volunteer can be cancer to a HC and the program he was hired to lead. I am not saying this is the deal here....IDK the ones involved...but, I can tell you I have had some awesome community coaches and I had some that couldn't coach a kid to stand at attention for the national anthem. I wish the program better days....

Hate to hear this. Mike has been a true blue bulldog supporter and coach. He has given of his time and talents to coaching the dogs. He will be missed. Good luck Mike.

I speak with one of the coaches pretty regularly. He never brought up anything that would suggest a disconnect between the HC and assistants. This was a sensitive matter and should have stayed in house.

Did anyone resign when Gaster was coach? or Tony Web?

It was Toby Webb and I think for the most part he only had two assistant coaches.
