That's YOUR narrative. Rutgers football team does not "stink so much." Toughest division in college football with a tough year with injuries. It happens.

UConn does not deserve any credit. They sold their souls for basketball. One flash in the pan year does not turn the program around. The loser mentality on this board and invented reasons to mock Rutgers are comical.
Plum can be a troll at times. A lot of times. Almost always.

This thread is the equivalent of giving props to the Montreal Allouettes finishing .500 in the CFL and losing in the first round of their playoffs while the Giants didn’t make the playoffs. Nobody is that stupid. Plum just likes to troll sometimes, often always.

I love the bowl season and I watch just about every one but I didn't watch one second of this game. Zero interest. When you're an independent you can schedule 6 wins a year.

Lol I don’t like to troll

I am not giving major props to uconn. They had a nice little season. It doesn’t mean I would trade places with them. I am just sick of us stinking

They have a real Coach. Makes a difference.
Hard to believe Yukon has passed us by.
If we were 6-6 playing the UCONN schedule and then lost to Marshall big in a small time bowl game you would be the first to start saying "we suck - Syracuse and BC have passed us by." And of course you would never mention we play in the toughest conference and hardest division in the country. To summarize - you are a negative and clueless jerk. sorry

rip…you ignore that competitiveness is relative. relative to their competition, yes they are a better program right now.

I will say it again, Houston Texans fans aren’t boasting they could beat Alabama. They suck and Alabama doesn’t, relative to their competition.

you are claiming being in a tough conference is an excuse for sucking. It’s really not. One coach got the job done and Schiano hasn’t in more years trying

Better off how ? Revenue ? No because there are no profits and all we bring in is spent. Same as there.

Winning ? No, LOL. Bowls ? no. Would we even beat them ? Maybe. That’s all we have. But Do you see Houston Texans fans bragging they would beat Alabama and Georgia ? Hardly.

Whether Mora leaves or not, they can afford to replace him. We can’t afford to replace ours.

Relative to the conference, competiton and the future, they are in a better place.
They are not in a better place, they are an independent vagabond program that goes hat in hand begging teams to play them

Their future is pure ****

When your team is playing "paycheck" games your program is not in good shape.
Michigan paid them $1.8 million for that 59-0 pasting in a totally non competitive game from the start (38-0 at the half). If I recall we were leading Michigan at the half before the wheels came off.
Saying that their program is in better shape than ours is just crazy. The only thing that UConn has that we don't is an OC (whoever he is).

p.s. A 59 point difference? Wasn't that the same margin of victory for our game vs Wagner for about $1.4 million less?

This summer everyone was predicting the program was toast and should think about dropping back to FCS. Sports Illustrated had an article and named Sacred Heart The Best football program in State. I cant stand UConn but you have to give them credit for such a turn around from how last season went

The UConn football is doomed is one of this community’s great “truths” - the other being NJAM is set to go under.

One day, maybe three or four years from now, Greg will get us back to our Super Bowl, the Pinstripe Bowl, and then all the Rutgers fans will be able to once again rejoice and celebrate our rise form the Ashes.

i have stopped caring about bowl season, aside from the playoffs. the combination of the portal and guys sitting out has taken away all interest for bowl season for me.
GS is the lowest paid B10 head coach. He's probably about average or below average in the ACC salary range.
That's no excuse. GS got "everything" he wanted in his contract.

Sure, it’s far better for the university to be in this conference. No one disagrees. But UConn has a more competitive football program. Can’t disagree with that either.
What metrics are you using? College football ranks our SOS at 64 and Uconn at 113.

Your opinion is insane and has no merit. If you think uconn is better off being an independent you're nuts-- they would give anything to be in the BIG-- end of discussion.
If at some point when we actually hire a legitimate P5 HC that actually can deliver on the field and not just talk and sell himself to a desperate group of fans, then the potential of Rutgers football within the B1G will be realized and there will be no rational comparison between programs like UConn and Rutgers. Until that day happens, hopefully 2, 3, maybe 4 years from now, we will have to deal with these types of silly threads.

Same. I didn't even realize the bowls started last Friday until I was watching the 1-AA Playoffs that night. I also did not realize there are games every day this week...and during the day. Ratings will be horrendous.

The playoffs have definitely killed my interest in bowl games. Never thought I would watch AA and D-2 playoffs more.

Ummm . They beat 2 very good Teams Fresno St. {10 wins} and Liberty {9-4}. Both of whom would kick our arse. Who are our signature wins ? Indiana and Boston College ? Please. Yukon has passed us by because they have a competent HC

That's a value judgement. They decided to go all in on basketball at the cost of football. From the hoops standpoint, early returns are favorable.

Maybe, but revenue wise football drives the bus. And AAC MBB ain't no slouch right now.

Listen tons of teams have passed us by.

But let’s slow the roll with UConn =had one barely decent year - barely qualifying - with a crap schedule
Get your head of your arse.
Crappy Schedule? Yukon beat Fresno St. -10 wins and Liberty-9 wins . They would both beat us by double digits easily.
Hey Clown let’s have this same conversation one year from now and see where Mora has his Yukon team vs. where Schiano will have Rutgers at season’s end. We are behind Yukon.

It’s such a farce how far these SchianoGod worshipers are willing to go to accept the demise of RU Football. If we go 3-9 or 4-8 next season (likely at best) he should be gone. He would be at any other P5 program. And don’t spew that crap about we don’t have the money. Our B1G payout is $70 million in 2024.

Fresno couldn't beat their own dix when they played yukon; they got their act together not long after that debacle. Liberty is a joke at #19. Another schedule tiger.

Now compare how yukon would fare against our schedule, dope.

sorry, this is just nuts

what conference are they in that puts them in a better place?

what future does Uconn have by not being in a conference?
none

sure, what they CAN do is schedule div 2 teams and try to scratch out six wins, and go to a minor bowl

if you think our crowds are lame now, watch what would happen if we were independent playing central conn and UMass as featured games....

and recruiting.....do you think we would get any decent player to come here without a respected league to be in?....we would sink to UCONNs level and stay there

I have absolutely no jealousy for them making a bowl and would never ever change places with them...

their program is a dead man walking

Uconn is not in a better place than us . They had a nice little season , but I think most rutgers fans realize they didn’t pass us by.

What you’re seeing is a frustrated rutgers fanbase. Being in the BIG has benefits, but if all we are gonna do is stink up this league it doesn’t matter how much revenue we get from TV contracts. It’s not fun .
Next year will be our 10th season in this league and all we have done is been terrible. The being in a tough division narrative is not an excuse anymore and we have sucked against the other division too .
The way our team has performed under the coach that was supposed to be our savior is concerning. All criticism of this program and performance in this league is fair game at this point .

It is crazyt with some of our posters- I won't even call them fans. But, they can't just be unhappy with results so far with GS 2.0 but they find any type of crazy comparisons to just trash Rutgers completely every chance they get.

1) It is fine to not be happy with Schiano.
2) You don't have to try to say UConn has passed us by. - because, once you do that, you lose all credibility

Your not serious here are you? Passed us by?

You know we didn’t lose a non-conference game right? Not one. To get to 6 wins they beat Central Connecticut, FIU (4 total wins including Bryant in OT), UMass, BC (we beat them too and on the road), Liberty and Fresno. They also lost to Ball State, Army and Utah State. If you think we wouldn’t have gotten to 6 wins with that schedule I don’t know what to tell you.

Now compare how yukon would fare against our schedule, dope.

below is my guess of UConn's DREAM SCENARIO with our schedule. I had them winning each of the easier non-conf games (BC, Wagner and Temple) AND beating 2 lower level BigTen teams.

Under that DREAM scenario they get 1 more win.

... and I think I am being VERY GENEROUS in this assessment. for example:

- could they really beat BOTH Nebraska and Indiana?
- would they REALLY beat all three of our non-conf games (or finish a more realistic 2-1)?

If either or both of those scenarios dont work out in UConn's favor they finish with the same or worse record as us.

Lastly, I'll admit that this year - if we played them - I cant say we would have won. our offense was PUTRID. but our D was pretty good and there is no reason to think that we wouldnt have beaten them or not. tough to say. and frankly, its pathetic that this discussion is being had. but to say they have "passed us by" is just beyond silly.

as others have said - (1) if given our schedule it is HIGHELY DOUBTFUL they would have done better; and (2) more importantly, for the reasons others stated above, I wouldnt trade places with them FOR ANYHTING.

they would have to leave the big east for basketball..

based on their immediate success there, which I predicted, It would be a long and tough decision..

the big 12 would be gambling on them becoming a valuable football component, just like the big 10 gambled with us.

I think there would be at least a slight drop off in their basketball program with the move, however....

I don't think they get the big 12 offer unless there is another major league shakeup that ripples through the big 12 also

a team like UConn has no depth and even their front line players, are fighters but really not elite.
But cripes- they would not have done as well as we did with our schedule - keeping in mind that we really shot ourselves in the foot in at least 2 games that we should have been able to call a win.
And you all don't think we win 8 games with their schedule? Again- maybe we **** the bed and win 7 or maybe we win a few of those games because Gavin and our WR's actually have a advantage on the teams UConn played.
Now, with that said- we are in the B1G- I do not hold ourselves up with UConn or Temple anymore. So- I am not currently happy where we are and if we get much better under the current staff.

But, UConn- you guys are complete idiots.

This is just silly. What makes you so sure they win either ROAD game at Temple or BC let alone both? They really sucked away from home. Couldn’t beat Ball State who is probably worse than Temple. Temple played a harder schedule.
