Cardinal Gibbons RB Donovan Shepard breaks single-game NCHSAA rushing record

Donovan Shepard had 19 carries for 539 yards and 6 touchdowns for the Crusaders. This broke T.J. Logan's N.C. High School Athletic Association record of 510 yards back in 2012.

Gibbons will play Sanderson for the CAP-6 conference championship on Friday. Sanderson defeated Leesville Road 17-14 last night.

Makes me wonder how many yards Mike Hughes could've racked up in that 2014 East Final game against Hoggard if he played the entire game and kept the foot on the gas. Had 250 rushing yards/150 passing yards and 6 (!) TD's in the first half alone.
