Real bad weather arriving by tomorrow. The showers will fall by mid day and clear towards the evening is what was told.

I heard that the big back for Princeton walked off the team? Any truth to that rumor? He was a competitor and their best player for sure. I hope not. He is a talented young man.

rosewood over hobbton tonight 27-14 the weather was not as bad as i thought it would be. wildcats played good solid football. 2nd half was a comedy of errors for rosewood on offense as qb-#8 helt was out in the 3rdq.. eagle defense really made great stands in tough situations. besides the rhs defense...i give kudos too #3 woodard,#8 helt. huge test!! for my rhs eagles as they host james kenan next friday. my eagles must cut down on the penaltys as mistakes for next friday nights game not too be a total blowout by a very good kenan tiger team.

The conference's round one shaped up about as expected.

This week is there is one really big match up and another to see who is ready to make a jump to the second tier of the conference.

James Kenan at Rosewood
The Tigers come off of a thrashing of Rosewood's top rival, while the Eagles come into the game having played a tough Hobbton team. Rosewood will try to outsmart the Tigers defense with a tough hitting offense that runs effectively and understand the read option. James Kenan will try to sniff out that speed with their aggressive linebacking core. This game could be played in the rain with some chances for bobbled snaps and handoffs all around.

James Kenan 34 - Rosewood 21

Spring Creek at Hobbton

The Wildcats made too many errors to take down Rosewood's highflying offensive power last week, but this week they get to see a Gator team that didn't move the ball well against the Leopards. Both teams have shown flashes of goodness this year this is the game that moves one out of the cellar.

Hobbton 27 - Spring Creek 21

Lakewood at North Duplin

The Leopards travel to Calypso to take on a rejuvenated Rebel squad who is coming off of a drumming of Lejune. Lakewood makes the trip without star running back Dillion Kinlock who is reported to miss the rest of the year. The Rebels rushing attack looks to duplicate it's 300 yard effort from last week. The Rebels haven't seen a defense this tough this year and I don't think that even with a hard nosed defensive line that the Rebels can keep Lakewood from imposing their will.

Lakewood 40 - North Duplin 13

Princeton (Bye Week)
Princeton will have a chance at some rest this week as they prepare to take on Hobbton on October 9

1999 saw teams playing three games in a stretch of 9-10 days due to Hurricane Floyd and major flooding. I know Rosewood is hoping for the score to be reminiscent of that year against the Tigers tonight.

you got that right scout!!... best football game ive watched(win-lose-draw) in a long time. i didnt realize with my last night score prediction...that i made alot of the young men from rhs mad and they let me know this after the game!!! rosewood came out the 1st half on fire and it was 28-14 eagles at the half...but i reminded all in the pressbox..watch out!...a great team like the tigers will come our the 2nd half roaring.....and james kenan did just that...my stu-kudos----#72 k taylor on defense...played his heart out as the rosewood defense that bent but did not break. qb-#8 cam helt who made great reads...#3 m woodard who is a beast!! at rb as on defense.....and our soccer-track #!--red almontaser...huge defense plays as offense and made a great fg kick too win as the clock ran out!!....great game! huge win!!......celebrate tonight but....a very good lakewood team will host my eagles next friday night.

Sounds like a storybook finish at the end of the game for the Eagles, did weather factor into the game?

It rained off and on during the day before game time so the field was wet but not too bad. No rain at all during the game. A few times you saw backs slip when trying to cut hard.

Great game plan and execution by Rosewood last night. #72 was a beast and #8 had a great night. Very impressed with the Rosewood squad and fans. Maybe my Tigers can use this in a positive manner. Great, and deserved victory. Enjoy it.

Congrats to Rosewood, very well executed game plan and they outplayed the Tigers in every way. James Kenan did not come to play and got it handed to them. Rosewood can all but lock up the conference championship this Friday by beating Lakewood, can't wait for Friday!

This weeks games have a pretty good line up

Princeton at Hobbton
Princeton travels to Newton Grove to take on the Wildcats in what will be a game that sees the reemergence of Whack in the backfield for Princeton, but I don't think the rest of the team will be as dominant against the Wildcats and Princeton will have a tough time stopping the Wildcat offense.

Hobbton 34
Princeton 20

North Duplin at James Kenan
Will the Tigers come back focused and ready to pursue a shot for a state championship or have we seen the Tigers true colors this season? This is going to be a focus game for the Tigers as they play homecoming against the Rebels. The Rebels defensive front looks to shut down the explosive running game that brought the Tigers back against Rosewood last week, I doubt they have much success as the Tigers will be on the hunt tonight.

James Kenan 56
North Duplin 12

Match Up of The Week
Rosewood at Lakewood

Rosewood looks to keep the fortune flowing this week against conference contender Lakewood the Leopards come into the game with a strong defense and potent rushing attack, the same as the Tigers last week. The winner of this game will have a strong claim for conference championship rights. Rosewood winning outright though should give them the outright conference championship baring any unforeseen mishaps along the way.

Rosewood puts up 17 pts on Lakewoods D. That was the most they allowed all year. I was very impressed with #1 from Rosewood. He plays at a very high level. Good luck to Rosewood the rest of the way. That offense gives you an opportunity to make a deep playoff run.

A Friday night showdown looms this week and battle for last place is taking shape.

Princeton @ Spring Creek
The Gator and Bulldogs play to determine who will finish closer to the bottom this week. The game happens on the Gators field without a lot of star power for Princeton, the Gators will take this one from the Dogs as a tune up to take on Rosewood next week.

Spring Creek 28 - Princeton 6

Rosewood @ North Duplin

The curious case of North Duplin and Rosewood, a small CC rivalry of sorts. The Rebels looked really good against Lakewood the Eagles did not, Rosewood upset James Kenan, the Rebels couldn't muster anything until late in the game against the Tigers. I think their is too much speed and size on Rosewoods defense but can they rebound on the road against a team a well coached ND team?

Rosewood 38 - North Duplin 20

Lakewood @ James Kenan

This one is for all the marble and Lakewood's first stand alone conference championship in quite a few years. The Leopard defense is big and strong, their offense has a fantastic lefty that can make defensive backs look atrocious. Kenan has been suspect to decent passing teams this year, just ask Rosewood, and East Carteret (Who gave the Tigers fits early). The Tigers have Zach Melvin back who is one of their best defenders and allows the linebackers Brooks and Mason to play more freely. Tanner, Eason, and Bennett will have to recreate some of the prowess from a week ago to keep out of the clutches of the Tiger Defense.

James Kenan 28 - Lakewood 21

Hobbton gets a bye week to prepare for same colored rivals James Kenan next week

JK---35
Lakewood---6

The Tigers had a solid game tonight moving the ball well on the ground. Lakewood defense was all as pre-billed and have a solid team. Was very disappointed with no more fans that showed up from Lakewood. I thought with them playing for sole position of #1 in the Carolina 1A they would have showed up in greater numbers. Hey folks you have a very good team.....support them! Now with Lakewood, Rosewood, and JK tied for #1 in conf the seedings will be very interesting with the draw from the hat. We could have these teams landing anywhere from #2 to #8 in the East 1-AA if they all stay in big 1A. Anybody know how the ADMs are going to play out this year with Lakewood and Rosewood?

The conference season is half way done and there is a jumble at the top of the Carolina Conference.

This week games have some playoff implications for the small 1-A seeding when North Duplin travels to Princeton to take on the Bulldogs. Hobbton Host J.K. and Rosewood welcomes the Gators of Spring Creek.

James Kenan at Hobbton

This game will feature a power running attack that can stretch defenses to the outside and not allow them to make the plays they are used to. That's right Hobbton comes in with a physical rushing attack and the ability to make use some athleticism and make plays into the defensive backfield. The Tigers defense has been excellent at slowing down the run, not so much with the pass. If the Wildcats can dial up some plays through the air that'd help them out a whole bunch. But either way I still think this one goes to a refocused Tigers team.

James Kenan 49 - Hobbton 7

Spring Creek at Rosewood

Spring Creek heads up to Rosewood for a game against one of the conference leaders and this is a game that will sneak up on the Eagles if they sleep walk through it looking forward to a week off next week. Having said that Almontaser, Woodard, Helt, and Godwin will lead the Eagles to the win.

Rosewood 35 - Spring Creek 19

North Duplin at Princeton

This is the game of the week in that it will likely be the closest of the week however I've been wrong before. North Duplin comes off of a close game with Princeton last week and should be able to move the ball well against the Bulldogs, and Princeton going to the Wing-T look could make for an interesting defensive night for the Rebels.

North Duplin 32 - Princeton 24

Lakewood gets the bye this week to recover from that long stretch of games against Rivals and conference leaders.

Lakewood 27 - Fighting Bye's 0

I'm doing my preview picks on Monday this week to get an early start and see what some other die hards think.

The Conference has pretty much settled that there was not enough evidence to determine an outright winner and will come down to coin flips/pick-a-straw after the regular season has ended between Rosewood, Lakewood, and James Kenan.

Games this week include bottom dwellers Hobbton and North Duplin and two powerhouses against weaker opponents.

James Kenan at Spring Creek

The Gators get no rest for the weary after a drubbing by Rosewood. Kenan looks mighty focused after the miss step at Rosewood less than a month ago by outscoring opponents 123-14 over the three game stretch since the barn burner with the Eagles. The Tigers are averaging 40 points a game and the Gators are giving up 41 out side of their two wins the stats don't like to be proven wrong and the Tigers defense is giving up just ten points a game and if you look past the abnormality at Rosewood they average just a touchdown allowed each contest which is generally given up during the mop up duty by the younger Tigers.

James Kenan 42 - Spring Creek 0

Princeton at Lakewood

The Bulldogs defense has had a resurgence since the opening loss of conference play, and this as good a time as any for Princeton to be hot going against two of the three teams tied for first in the conference and make no mistake Princeton has the ability to come on strong and sneak one out of here in the next two weeks. The Bulldogs need to play the best game of the season this Friday especially traveling to Sampson county, tough to win in Roseboro.

Lakewood 27 - Princeton 14

Hobbton @ North Duplin

Intercounty rivalry aside this game looked a lot better before North Duplin started conference play, now with the worst conference record and playing a team who has had the ability to win games this year the Rebels face a couple of must wins if they want a chance at having a decent lower seed in the playoffs. Hobbton and Spring Creek aren't the competitors that Rosewood, Lakewood, and Kenan are but this game is likely a do or die if the Rebel and the Wildcats hope to bolster playoff seeds.

Rebels haven't proven they can get the job done in conference and Hobbton has one win already I think the Rebels stay at the bottom as the Wildcats spoil senior night in Calypso

Hobbton 34 - North Duplin 19

Rosewood

Rosewood will take the week off to prepare for a really improved Princeton team that is getting better by the week. Rosewood better come out guns blazing in order to get some payback for the past couple of year.

great post jeff friday, princeton bulldogs are playing dang good football and rosewood better be ready in less than 2 weeks as they visit brooks field. lakewood is a darn good team and that defense is very stingy. the game of the week will be n-duplin vs hobbton as both of these teams have shown greatness in some games. good luck too all cc teams and i urge all fans too come out and cheer these teams on!!
