I’m with T-Mobile. Still paying for my kids phones. Bill is high 200$’s. Any of y’all switched to consumer cellular? And if so, are you happy with it?

My kid likes to watch Baby Looney Tunes each morning before school, and all the commercials are geriatric focused (Consumer Cellular, Lifelock, Ellipse, Hurry Cane). So he has a personal disdain for Consumer Cellular since it interrupts his programming.
Hope that’s helpful.

If you’re happy with TMobile coverage look into Mint Mobile. Same basic service much cheaper price.

Yep I have mint, before that it was TMO. Big fan of Mint although I don't live in Mississippi so I cant speak to coverage. If you liked TMO just use Mint as it's the TMO network with low prioritization

I'm with Consumer Cellular. Really like it. One thing is for sure.....when you call customer service, they talk really good clear understandable English. I used to be with Straight Talk and their call center is in Miami. You'd almost have to know Spanish to talk to them......it was horrible. As far as pricing, Consumer Cellular is very competitive. The only phone service I've seen with better pricing is Dish Boost. But you have to be a Dish TV & Internet customer before you can get their phone svc.

I need something with a lot of high speed data. My Ceasefire plan has a cap of 25 gigs of high speed data that they started enforcing over the past couple of years. I use a lot of data away from my home internet and burn through the 25 gigs in a couple of weeks.

So any recommendations of a lower priced plan with 50-75 gigs of high speed data is appreciated. I spend a lot of time in rural MS, so coverage maps are important. Ceasefire doesn’t necessarily have the best coverage in rural MS.

I recently switched my wife to Mint Mobile. I did it during their black Friday offering and got a year of unlimited service for 15 a month. I paid $360 all up front and am not getting any bills. She says the service has been great.

I have Xfinity Mobile and it's been great. It's only beneficial cost wise if you have Xfinity home internet
Same. We got 3 phones with unlimited service for $90/month. Plus we got really cheap iphones when we jumped over from Verizon.

As someone involved in the technical side of wireless, this is a very broad statement. There are rural areas where some particular carrier is great and others are not, and there are other areas where that carrier is bad and others are good. It all depends on the network a particular carrier has built out. New cell sites are mid-six-figures expensive on top of the ongoing costs which can be pricey as well, so decisions about where a particular carrier deploys their network often have a lot to do with market share and return on investment to make sure that investment is profitable. If one carrier has the best coverage for the areas you tend to frequent, then that's who looks best to you, but that carrier may not be good for someone else's needs. And whatever Billy Bob or Luke Wilson says on national tv commercials doesn't mean anything if it doesn't work for you.

One thing to keep in mind about mint mobile is there is a maximum limit of 10 people in any one group text.
Because Mint Mobile currently lacks universal RCS support on all devices, larger group chats may fall back to MMS and that’s when the recipient count limit can kick in

So if you're having to text more than 10 people you're going to have to send two sets or three sets of messages.

But if you prepay a whole year it's one of the best deals going it works out to about $16.50 a month.

I'm wondering if you might be able to renegotiate with T-Mobile. I have 5 lines with them (whole family) and pay $165/month, unlimited data.

I was with Consumer Cellular for about 6 years. Great pricing, and they use the AT&T network. As mentioned above, their customer service is excellent. I had unlimited data for $40 per month, plus fees and taxes.

My only complaint about their service was they keep changing their plans, but they don't advertise their changes. Its up to you to check their plans from time to time to see if you can save money.

Obviously

As ceasefire is a MS company, some may think it has the best coverage in the state (it’s home territory). I travel the state extensively for work, my work phone is ATT, personal phone ceasefire. I’ve yet to find an area were ceasefire gets a signal, but ATT doesn’t. I have found the opposite though (areas where ATT connects and ceasefire doesn’t).

We’ve stuck with them due to being a MS company and having friends and family who work there, but their cell service seems to be getting worse (or maybe they’re just not keeping up with others).

We left AT&T because we were paying $160 for 4 phones with just 4Gbt service. Cricket had unlimited for 4 phones at $100 on the AT&T network. Service has been the same except I don't have to worry someone is going to go over limits.
Just put my tablet on Boost Mobile. They offer either AT&T or T-mobile. I set it up like a phone so I can call from the tablet. It works great and is just $27 a month on T-mobile.

I could tell you several places where Cspire is better than AT&T but I would concur that generally the opposite is true more often.

And I think there's a lot of truth in your last sentence. It's really expensive to maintain a wireless network on top of just having built it. You're constantly having to update equipment. It never stops.

I'm curious if you guys with Mint or Xfinity have usable service during State football games. Verizon pretty much craps out about 15 minutes before kickoff as the stands fill up.
There was a couple of lighter attendance games this year where it worked intermittently, but at halftime? Forget it.

I switched from AT&T to Consumer Cellular. Saved approx. $140/Mo. & have noticed no change in the quality of service.

No on Xfinity.

If I only had one line to worry about - I've thought about just constantly switching providers to get new phones. But we are at 3 lines now on our bill (a couple of years away from 4 lines) and it would be too much of a hassle.

I use Cricket which has 10gb of high speed data and throttles back after that. I moot point for me as when I’m home it automatically uses my home internet. Has unlimited talk and text all for $35/mo for one line. Perfect for me. Uses AT&T network.

You ever seen a Consumer Cellular standalone store?
View attachment 1143417
I didn't walk in, but I bet it smells like prunes, shìt filled adult diapers, and that weird wet cardboard aroma that's so characteristic of the olds.
That's kind of funny considering that approximately 60-65% of their customers are in the 25-50 year old age range. Maybe those youngsters need to change their kid's diapers before going in to look for a phone. I really don't see a need for a Consumer Cellular physical store. You can do everything online and/or phone, seeing instant pricing when you decide what you want. Very transparent website and upfront costs.

No experience with consumer cellular or really anything recently, but in the past I've been on Total Wireless (before it was bought by verizon) and had friends on cricket and never had any real issues with being deprioritized. Not sure if that's changed or if it's a bigger deal when you're in metropolitan areas where you are more likeliy to have a lot of traffic on a particular tower, but if it wasn't for a work phone, I'd definitely be rolling with one of the discount carriers.

Been with Sprint/TMobile for 24 years and just changed my plan yesterday.
We pay for 4 family lines, 2 extra lines for my parents, and 1 Apple watch connection.
All phones are purchased outright and owned, so no idea if there are benefits or drawbacks as a result.

It is the 'Better Value' plan and has auto-pay discounts applied and taxes included.
- $140 for 3 lines
- $90 for 3 additional lines
- $12 for watch.

Unlimited text, talk, and premium 5g data.
250gb of monthly hotspot data.
TSat included(not sure when I would ever need this?...dont go to Alaska often).
5 years of price lock.
Additional $20 off per month for 12mo because I said I was finally going to look at other plans and carriers.
Some ad-level streaming services included.

So $242 total with taxes included for 6 lines and an Apple watch.

Mike "Dirty Jobs" Rowe has been advertising for Pure Talk for months now, they use AT&T for service, veteran owned, headquartered in GA and US based customer service.
