Chambers will take on Highland Springs from Virginia. They played last year and Chambers won it. So far Chambers 1-0 and HS is 0-0. As for Highland Springs I don’t know about what they will bring. Could be a very competitive game. I will take Chambers in this one. Any thoughts.

The Springers of Highland Springs are ranked 2nd in Virginia overall. 1st in 5a.

Chambers went up there and beat them at their place last year …so I favor Chambers at home.

Last year…..The Springers scored on Chambers twice…short passes that turned into a long race to the end zone and Chambers couldn’t catch ‘em.

The Springers got SPEED!…judging by the video I watched.

This should be one heck of a game!

The two teams are mirror images of each other. Both teams have speed, depth, experience, and are very well coached. Both teams lost close games to the eventual state champions last year. The teams have experience at quarterback(Both have D1 offers). Both teams have massive offensive lines. Both teams play with five defensive backs that can all cover man-to-man. Both teams have a fantastic front six on the defensive front. Both teams have good size and speed at the running back position. This very well may come down to who makes the least mistakes. I know that sounds cliché,but quite honestly, these teams can play 10 times, and I honestly could not tell you what the results of those 10 games would be. This is an excellent beginning of the season contest for both teams.

Final. Highland Springs 26 - 20.
Well, we’ve been waiting on this.
The perfect teaching moment.

We will stretch a little, but not really.
The point will be made.
The point we have made for decades.

Chambers played “up” this week. They lost.
Hough played “up” last week. They lost.
Mallard Creek played “up” this week. Lost.
Weddington played “up” this week. Lost.
Dudley played “up” this week. They lost.
Shelby played “up” this week. They lost.
Reidsville played “up” this week. They lost.

The top teams in the State, across classifications, played “up” this week (or last), and they all lost.
But every losing coach will tell you, it will make them better….for the season.
The loss will expose the weaknesses, with time to correct or adjust to them.

“So what?”, you ask. Most understand that, correct?
No, they don’t.
We have had the biggest arguments and most aggressive abuse trying to make this point, primarily to the 4A crowd, but also to 3A and 2A folks as well. Play “up”, it will make you better. “But 4A can’t play “up” “, they said.
They just did. And lost.
Powerful Indy, at their finest, played “up” in Ohio. And lost.

Some thought, play it safe, schedule cupcakes for non conference, go undefeated, and you will get the highest seeds, and now, perhaps a bye.
Some still think that way.
It is past time for strength of schedule to be considered in year end seeding.
We will not hold our breath.
But finally, many are starting to see the great value there is in scheduling non conference play against a team that may be better than you.

Want more proof?

There is a high school football program in NC that has been playing “up” forever.
Many years, 40% of their schedule has been against teams from higher classes. Some years, it was over 50%. Many years, including this year,
scheduled teams 2 classes “up”.
That program has won more games and more State Titles in the last 60 years than any other.
They have won 92% of games within their class.
The closest other program of any class is at 80%.
But in only 3 of those seasons were they undefeated.

Now you know why.

Spoken like someone that knows very little about Charlotte area HS football or Virginia or South Carolina for that matter.

I agree. Chambers will be fine. I was born and raised in the Richmond area. My high school (Hermitage) has battled Highland Springs for quite a few years. You don't want to lose any games, but this wasn't a bad loss. The Springers, year in and year out, have a good team. They've developed a great program in Richmond. Again, the Cougars will be fine.

I posted on here for 7 years. I'm not a troll. I'm just tired of seeing all the hype videos of how great Chambers is when the reality is you drive 20 miles outside of Charlotte and play just about any team in Rock Hill and Chambers loses.
You know you can’t say anything about them though without upsetting some people. Charlotte folk jump to whatever team is hot every 3-4 years and now it’s chambers time, for now.

You realize Chambers won this game last year, right? In Richmond.

Creek won 1 game in 2007. After that, we went on a 12 year run, not losing more than 1 to 2 games a season. Averaging about 12 wins a season. That’s a very difficult task at the level of competition, at the highest level of football in NC, Nobody was collectively jumping on our Bandwagon. We weren’t good for just 3 to 4 years.

Highland Springs and Chambers have similar enrollment numbers, demographics, etc. Both good programs. Chambers just got beat. It happens. But to act like any of those Charlotte schools don't play anyone out of conference is just...laughable.

I’m talking about the state championship run not average wins per season.

Byrnes, Dillon, Gaffney, South Pointe, Dutch Fork included in that run. Won a lot of those games. Plus Chambers, Hough and the deep playoff runs.

But hopefully now you can see the value of playing someone that may be better than you 😂😂.

Outside of Indy and Dutch Fork of SC, nobody is staying on top, at that level of competition for a long period of time. TK has set a very high bar. Lower division 1 & 2 , it’s a lot easier to sustain. Collectively just not a lot of competition at that level. Guys outside of Charlotte are like, your team sucks, you didn’t win the State Championship again. Lol!

You are making assumptions first of all. You don’t know me, know if I have a team or who it is if I had one. I live in Charlotte and said what I said based off what I’ve seen. It’s always a new wave with a team having a short span of making the championship game for a few years and it’s currently chambers. Soon this will not be the case and you basically agreed by talking about Indy and DF.

My, how you have changed your tune since the MC three peat several years ago.
Creek will rule 4A for years you said then.
Now your players transfer, you get crushed by playing “up” outside NC, and claim Creek plays “ better” nationally ranked teams than anybody else has.
Nice to see your thinking evolve.
But it’s still about rings.

Coach P attempted to schedule the top programs he could find, from
South Florida, California to IMG. Guys who know nothing about scheduling, believe playing elite programs, are just a phone call away. That’s not how it works. The program is definitely not known for seeking out inferior competition. Buford’s Junior & Sophomore class would beat any team in NC or SC on cruise control. A few years back Georgia teams were talking about boycotting, playing them. Their Facility is on the level of an FCS power. Their assistance make more than NC Head Coaches. I believe they’re on Mater Dei level. I was not a fan of playing them.

Oh, I know. But people act like you can somehow force, nevermind a Buford, but even Dutch Fork, on the schedule every year, and if you don't win, and run the table against all the other good teams in your state, you've underachieved.

Who said anything about knowing you or what team you had.? Your statement is any team in the U.S, that's not private. Not just Charlotte teams. Indy & DF have the same common denominator. (Tommy Knotts) He'll be winning Championships as long as he's coaching.

Why and Hell would any Coach in NC, who wins numerous Championships stick around for the very low pay? So no, you're never going to see an elite team in Charlotte stay at Championship status for decades. They all eventually go and get their payday somewhere that actually pay.

I feel like Dutch Fork is really the game everyone wants to see every year, but if you look, it's not like anyone in Charlotte, at least that I'm aware, has run from them.

2019 Mallard Creek (tied)
2020 Chambers (covid)
2022 Hough (24 - 27)

And if it's not them, it's someone else. Not playing or beating anyone else out of conference is just, well, not a great take.

Yes, sort of! :) The implication that people in Charlotte jump to the Hot team would be false. To competitive, in my opinion the new program gets beat up pretty bad by people in Charlotte. Not a lot of love at all.

May be not you and who you know but I know tons of people who do and have from youth football on up through high school. Some of the underclassmen over there now and their parents are the main ones I’m referring to.
