Big Question: If Alabama plays him for two games, and then NCAA deems him ineligible, Do they get an infraction?
Interesting question. Seems like if they played him, he was deemed ineligible and the NCAA punished Alabama, they would be inviting another lawsuit. Maybe one they're willing to take on, but still it seems like you're setting up for a fight. They aren't winning many fights these days...

I’m not sure CBB wants to play that game with UK, Duke, and UNC alum with “remaining eligibility…”

Might be time to call in and collect on all that “la familia” talk. Cal did say it would pay dividends for the program.

Well let’s see if 16 years of using the program, fanbase, platform to launch a billion dollars worth of contracts was worth it.

UK was basically a venture firm providing ability for start ups to flourish.

Time to cash out our vested shares.

The NCAA has rolled over like a submitting dog.

That is my sense as an outsider and fan.

It seems like the NIL legal determination, hurt their woke feelings and now they are responding by further enabling the overt demise of traditional college athletics.

What is the NCAA role and purpose in the new college/university professional athletics ecosystem?

Being butt hurt and angry is no way to lead. And lord knows, the NCAA leadership is as incompetent as the federal and state governments.

He wasn't ruled eligible. A court just granted him a TRO until they can have a hearing. No way Bama is dumb enough to play him given if he's ruled ineligible (which he will be) it could have serious implications on their season.

One avenue that I wonder about - would the NCAA ever consider not inviting certain teams to the NCAA tournament for violating the spirit of this stuff?

So a court has temporarily said they can play him - what if the NCAA says "If you play him, we won't invite you to the NCAA tournament" - the NCAA has sole discretion on who gets invited to participate, it could be something they leverage to make sure schools willingly follow eligibility guidelines even when the courts interfere.

Because this is BS what's happening now.

Don’t want him
He’s a loser who chased the $$$$ and it didn’t work out. Now he wants to come back after YEARS and get a little chunk of $$$$. This is absolutely insane if they allow it.
Insane on the NCAA? Yes! Insane on his part? Not at all. It’s not his fault the NCAA is that ignorant. To call someone a loser who has been playing basketball at that level for this long is kind of crazy also.

honestly, At this point, bring in two or three guys, Including a PG and C and play them a couple of games while this guy gets ruled on. It would never happen under Barnhardt, but I expect a few teams to jump in and sign a couple of players.

That will cause a lot of rift on Alabama’s team if that happens, which it should definitely not happen.
Will it? They have very little depth or talent in the post this year, and a defensive enforcer like Bediako could be the missing piece that vaults them into being national championship contenders. That’s a separate question than whether he should be allowed to suit up, but I don’t anticipate it causing any problems on the team.

So my question is. What makes him eligible? He never made it to the NBA or what? What’s the stipulations? What players would be eligible based off this guy? And I’m sure nobody has the exact same story as him but why can he come back and not say…. Any player we ever had leave early that wasn’t quite nba material and has been playing overseas or something?

Then the schools will be sued for failing to comply with employment law.

Made his bed.
Made the decision to leave.
He should have to be held accountable with that decision now.
These kids are trying to take advantage of ignorant loopholes to make more $$$$. Who the hell wants to run a program like that? I believe this stuff gets nipped pretty quickly.

One big rule that the courts seem to be giving to the NCAA is the age or 'time' after HS graduation being max 5 years. Bediako was a freshman in 21/22, so he has 5 years from then - to the 25/26 season - IE now.

(This doesn't include 20/21 - Covid, or med redshirts so some players like Askew and Krissa slip through from that freshmen class)

You don’t huh?
It’ll cause all kinds of problems.
It’s about more important things than wins at some point.

The NCAA has allowed professional Euro league players for as long as I can remember. It was simply a matter of showing how the players were not "paid". Everyone knew it was a farce but the rules were set.

But not Euro players who attended school, played multiple years, chose to leave, signed NBA contracts, and then asked to come back.

I would bet if he gets to play at Alabama that lockeroom looks like a party about right now. Getting fitted for rings already. Jk I doubt he makes them an auto bid for the title. I doubt he hurts them either.
