Glad to hear it. You're lucky. I did a lot of manual labor in my life, on the farm and so forth. And I was a power lifter in my younger days so I doubt that helps. But you are very fortunate and not the norm. I mean Jack Lalanne swam and pulled 70 boats on his 70th birthday. That's not the norm, either. Arthritis and other stuff hit most of us.
I have good genes, but all that manual labor I did in my younger days, helped me. It didn't wear me out, or cause medical issues.
I also go to a chiropractor once a month, that definitely helps too.

Yea it all depends on what type of work you’ve been doing in your younger / mid years. I worked at my family business in my young life, went to college, never really did manual labor except a few summers and in my youth. Now I work from home so I was lucky. My father was a mailman and ran everyday for marathon training. Was in Vietnam. His body at 60 brutal and he stayed in good shape. Especially his legs and feet.

All just depends on the type of work you put on your body from 18-30/40. I have mad respect for people who’ve always done labor. I worked ar Firestone in a plant for 6 months. Bending back work heavy lifting for 12 hours non stop. Those guys retire at 45/50 because the back can’t withstand it. I really don’t see how. Some Factory workers should be making way more money than they do it isn’t right.

I'm in my 30s and am deeply concerned with sneezing my back out on any given day or waking up with a knee the size of a grapefruit. I'm told it gets worse. Thankfully, I'm not sharting myself yet. I'm gonna be held together with hope and duct tape like Lamont Butler when I'm 50, though.
I feel ya there. My knees ache, my back goes out moving the wrong way, and I am tired as hell always.

They should consider them all losses, forfeits.
Truthfully, they should be all forfeits.

But they won't do that. I just have a feeling they're going to let it go and stand firm on the decision moving forward, minus any more penalty to Bama. They're not going to single out Oates and let all the other coaches that have already gone out there to get players like Bediako, and are skirting the intent of the rules of the game as it is .... those other coaches are already doing it too.

Gotta just clean it up and try to hold on to some semblance of an "amateur" getting a chance.

Sucks, but watch the spineless NCAA do nothing. At least something positive came of this for the sport.

Seriously Oats couldn't have done any of this without his AD's blessing.
The Bama AD is the one who should get the media scrutiny.
Does anyone think Barnhart in a million years would have let Cal file an injuction on Big Z's behalf?

39 going on 40 here, and all of a sudden I can feel my left knee in a way I haven’t before. I work from home on my couch so that helps, couldn’t imagine what it would be like if I actually had to do labor and had been doing labor the last 10/15. No way. Sports injuries are hard enough, not sure how guys do it.
I'm 56, lift weights, ride my bike when it's warm 6.5-8 miles each time, get in about 10 minutes on the treadmill every day, plus I have a men's softball team i coach & play for. I work at least fourty hours per week at UPS here in Louisville. People will feel stronger & not as old if they put in the work, I will admit there's plenty of days I don't feel like doing **** but I make myself. My GF & i go out & dance plus drink beer most Saturday nights also. Staying active is my best advice for anyone as they get older.

I worked there for 10 years. I should have stayed honestly but all my old friends there say the new CEO is running it into the ground with stupid decisions.

Now hold on, I’m against G league etc backflowing into college but Alabama imo shouldn’t be penalized as he had a legal injunction to play. Now if they play him after being struck down then yeah burn em at the stake.
The injunction was flawed from the start. The NCAA had already stated and made clear that any player that signed a NBA contract was not eligible. They went judge shopping and found one that was an Alabama booster.

Just because they could doesn't mean they should've. A message needs to be sent that this BS is unacceptable.

The one time I actually agree with the NCAA. You know times are rough.
I’ve been telling people for years, the majority of the money from the NCAA goes back to the universities. They do have bloated salaries and have chaotic rulings, but the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t. I used to tell Gonzo all the time to lay off the NCAA a little you need them strong.

I’m turning out right more and more everyday.

I’ll take the NCAA running things over the players. One look at the NBA shows you how that goes and this is worse. The gripe is really with the universities anyway, the NCAA really isn’t the issue.

For sure. I will say though, my father was a marathon runner and a USPS mailman. He ran 10 miles per day 5 days per week training and delivered mail. He finished STL and Chicago marathons 3rd and 4th multiple times. Stayed fit the works. At 60 his veins in his legs wore out, he’s had surgery after surgery on his knees and a hip. My advice is low impact and cardio / eat right and rest your body as much as possible. I’ve seen what happens to runners in my dad’s circle who were also mail carriers. Eventually it catches up.

That's the type of heavy work I've done. A lot of industrial maintenance. Lifting pieces of machinery weighing over 100 pounds in awkward positions. Yeah it's a wonder I have a back.

I agree they shouldn’t but I don’t fault them for trying. I fault the NCAA for being incompetent and putting themselves in this position.
At some point, we have to hold individuals accountable and not hope that institutions are competent or powerful enough to do the right thing. Sometimes they are, but when they aren't, it falls to the individual.

Oates is a grown man and so is the big he tried to add to the team. Because the individual sucks, it's now incumbent that the institution reacts appropriately. If they don't, which they likely won't, it forms a cycle of other individuals pushing limits and mucking down the whole system.

So I do fault them for trying. Honestly, it sickens me.

If he was attending classes, then he was acting in good faith. I don't care either way. I don't ble him for trying, nor Alabama for putting it in motion, and I don't see any difference between him and the rest of the players that are getting paid for play. It's all the same.

There are no amateurs anymore.

The poor, defenseless, victim- the NCAA. Just tugs at your heart strings, doesn’t it.

Lmao. You, Mr Baker, and your predecessors' lack of doing ANYTHING proactive, anything less than feckless and capricious BS has made your bed for you. No sympathy. None whatsoever.

You repeatedly drop kicked the ball out of the stadium on 1st down and goal with a 3 TD lead. You picked... NO ... ABUSED AND FED ON... on the school's with smaller fanbases and less state money, while giving the big names a pass on ANY shady dealings EVERYONE knew they were doing. Then you refused to get ahead of NIL because of your greed, and it backfired on you SO SPECTACULARLY that you curled up and sucked your thumb for YEARS. G.F.Y.

I just no longer g.a.s.

Tell that to my back and hip. I'm also losing bone density, they tell me. 51 is not young. At all. It's not ancient, but it ain't young. I know, I'm living it.

We lose bone density as we age because we eat too much sugar (leaches magnesium and calcium from your body to try to offset the pH effect of the sugar), and don't get enough physical activity. Continued hiking or running where you're getting impact exercise helps keep the bones strong and rebuilding. Once you get out of that, it's hard to build back up to it, but necessary.

There was a 70 yr old woman with a weighted backpack using the treadmill, Gauntlet Stairmaster, and doing box work at a gym I once used. Inspirational and humbling, but it kept her away from the doctor for broken bones and other injuries.

This will be my last follow up. Every team has tried to cheat to gain the edge since the beginning of time. Even our beloved UK has got caught with their hand in the cookie jar before a few times. Again, I don’t like the situation either and maybe we just see it differently but if the NCAA had a spine and hadn’t got themselves into this mess (and it has been a long time coming with examples like letting UNC lawyer up and win without a fight etc) then coaches and players wouldn’t be so bold about it. It’s easy to be bold when there are no repercussions. I don’t like Alabama did it but someone was gonna be first and the NCAA has made it toooooo tempting. Personally, I’m not sure it warrants it, but if they ban Alabama from the tournament I’m not gonna lose sleep over it. I’d welcome the NCAA fighting showing some spine.

The NCAA ruled him ineligible ....... the court ruled that he could play. He would still be ineligible under NCAA guideline's and they should should forfeit any wins. Just like Memphis forfeited games Rose played in when he was initially ruled eligible by the NCAA ..... before they changed their mind. Just my dumba$$ opinion,
