Not true. I won't believe it until I see pics of him dancing at the

Library Sports Bar with some of the other top recruits in the nation...wait...never mind.

He's there. He informed our staff a few weeks ago that he intended to visit up there--of course we hoped to talk him out of it. Not time to worry just yet. He has a bunch of friends OVing this weekend that he wanted to hang out with -- and a band or DJ or something was playing at the Library tonight that they all wanted to see. I have no problem with him taking a couple of visits...

I urge everyone to hold off 24 hours on freaking out about it -- we'll know alot more by then -- and I'll leave it at that for now...

Doesn't mean anything. Doesn't mean he's flipping to Ole Miss even though every Ole Miss fan on twitter seems to think so. Let the kid have fun and hopefully he'll stick with State. I would prefer him not be in Oxford I won't lie about that. I thought he was helping recruit in Starkville this weekend.

You are saying that if he shows in Starkville tomorrow we are ok. If not then we are in deep ****.

Yeah I don't get why people try to speak cryptically about recruiting. This isn't a government secret or anything. It's 18 year old kids picking their college.

Jones did just tell Marcello he doesn't know if he's coming to State tomorrow via text

@bmarcello: I texted DE Chris Jones Friday to ask if he is unofficially visiting MSU Saturday. He responded at 11:22 p.m. with "Idk yet"

Ok, now I know why my good friend,

I'm seriously worried about him now

"Souperdog" in Houston, MS is blowing up my damn cell phone. I left my phone in my truck and it was some serious heat up in the cab when I got in this morning. This ain't good!

Supposedly he didn't get in until real late last night because of his basketball game...missed The Library, so I don't know if I buy that he was coming for a band or DJ last night.

I also doubt he came in late last night only to leave early this morning to go to Starkville though anything is possible.

If it makes you feel better, the Spirit staff is saying it'll be an uphill battle for us to flip him. Good news is only 11 days until stupid season ends.

Anything is possible.

But we are more likely to get Tony Conner than Ole Miss is to get Chris Jones.

Signing day can't get here soon enough.

Your right, signing day can't get here fast enough, but the problem with that is that our attitude this time of year, should be that we don't want signing day to get her fast so that we have longer to flip everyone else's recruits. That's how OM thinks, and it works for them.

I am so sick of playing defense this time of year. We must learn and find a way to be on offense this time of year.

I agree with this. I'm worried about Jones... same as I was about Johnson a few years ago. I don't care who has more "character," the fact is, they were both 18 year old recruits who were "fully committed to State" until the last minute. You are absolutely right... we go on defense this time of year while our rival has a huge blowout recruiting weekend, and all the while, we are telling our recruits not to go.

The game is to make a recruit want to come to your school more than the other on NSD... it doesn't matter how long they were committed to us. If they want to go to OM more on NSD than they do us, they will pick OM every time. That's the way the game is played. We have to figure out how to compete the last 2 weeks of recruiting season so this kind of stuff doesn't happen.

For the record, I don't know who Jones is going to sign with, but I know I have been worried about him for a while (and I don't agree that we have a better chance of flipping Conner. This staff has been unable to flip an OM recruit yet, especially with less than 2 weeks). The story is eerily similar to CJ Johnson's, in terms of how he was recruited. This is also why I loath this time of year. I want NSD to be over with.

I'm just surprised you didn't post something earlier...

I know how much you like to post about how in the know you are, I can't believe that you kept quiet that Jones was going to visit Ole Miss today when Paul Jones, Brandon Marcello and Steve Robertson were all posting that he was going to be in Starkville and not Oxford.

The amount of Internet poster cred that you could have earned by posting that would have been tremendous.

The bears flipping our recruits last minute will continue until one of two...

Things occur. Either we $tep up to their level of character in recruiting or they get busted for their yearly high school draft day in February although i don't think probation and the NCAA hammer will stop them from buying players and not getting out bid. You are an ignorant fool if you don't know what's going on and it appears that our only option is that we start ponying up and beat them at their own dirty game.

Don't know if its been posted this week, but the grand epiphany that Jones' pops had about him visiting Oxford this weekend was that pops was guaranteed a large sum of $, just to convince CJ to step foot in Oxford this weekend.

Assuming you believe this is true, I ask of you: How much do you think was offered for any player to commit to State? Or is Ole Miss the only school that pays players?

But we were exerting pressure and holding something over him!

Let me just say that I've heard the word from the high school circles on what MSU is holding over Jones to keep him locked in and not visiting, and what I've heard doesn't involve the high school coach but involves the MSU staff exerting pressure.

I fully recognize that we do the same things, but I will just say that people trying to claim the high road in recruiting are either naive or foolish.

The only question I always have is why coaches fight so hard to keep players from looking if they want to look. Swinney does the same deal at Clemson, so it isn't uncommon, but I think it shows a lack of confidence in what you're selling if you're telling a prospect you don't want them even looking at other schools.
