It does suck and I hate it for him but he likely would have been burried on the depth chart. I would imagine he's behind morrow and bear, so on the bright side for him if he's eligible for a hardship then he has an extra year to play after they're gone.
Morrow couldn't catch AIDS in the Sudan. I damn sure expected to see Christy get more PT than Morrow.
You're in for a big surprise this year. Yeah, it was just the spring game, but ...
Receiving: White – Fred Brown 10-219-2 TD, Fred Ross 4-81, Brandon Holloway 3-12, Shelby Christy 3-9-TD, Gabe Myles 2-24-TD, Anthony Dixon 1-60-TD, B.J. Hammond 1-7;
Maroon – Robert Johnson 5-55, De’Runnya Wilson 4-87, Joe Morrow 4-68-TD, Jameon Lewis 4-35, Malcolm Johnson 2-23, Brandon Hill 2-19-TD, Josh Robinson 2-17, #25 1-8, Gus Walley 1-5
You can get a 6th year with a regular redshirt and medical redshirt, but it's not automatic and seems kinda arbitrary -- Case Keenum got one, but I remember a Cincinnati QB not getting one a few years ago despite having basically the same situation. If Christy wants to play in 2018, he can apply, but it may be up to the NCAA's random whims.
Sorry, this just isn't true. Keenum's first RS wasn't injury related, neither was Jason White's. I agree that it seems arbitrary and up to the NCAA to decide on that 6th year but there is NOTHING in writing about how the first RS season must be injury related for them to consider giving the 6th year.
I thought that Dixon guy looked good in the spring game. He slipped right behind all the secondary. Good size and hands. I expect to see him get more PT this year for sure
