My Dad and his older Brother by 4 years were the first to break the family chain of going to tsun being direct descendents of Leflore County's first judge. The Great Depression combined with our Irish DNA love of whiskey drained all the "Old Money" and my Dad and Uncle were going to have to work thru college unlike the rest of their tsun friends in Greewood. I know things have changed since the early 60's but they both just felt more comfortable at STATE considering their financial circumstances and would have felt somewhat embarassed having to work their way thru school with the known name they had at the time. I'm glad my Dad did just that and that's why I'll always refer to STATE as "The People's University" whether anyone agrees with it or not.
