The preseason calendar is not like it used to be, and with so many other schools that have started their own jamborees, no it is not that simple.

And I’ll throw this one in there too, some teams will stomp their feet and have a tantrum when you ask them to SCRIMMAGE somebody, so no it’s not that simple.

When you have to go looking in Forsyth and Guilford counties, or more than 1.5 hours away, most teams will choose not to come. (Fuel).
When you only have a limited amount of days to get a scrimmage in, they will choose to stay closer to home.

So no, it’s not that simple.

The Cleveland County Jamboree may be one of the longest running Jamborees in the State, but with the way the schedule is now, and everyone else starting jamborees to raise money, it’s going to be hard to find 4 star studded scrimmages like in years past.

The Cleveland County Jamboree is the reason we have all these other jamborees now. Its like the Rose Bowl of scrimmages-The Granddaddy of them all! I know this year, Lincoln Co. is starting a jamboree, and Buncombe County is starting a jamboree. That combined with the fact no one wants to get beat up early against these Cleveland County Schools are gonna make it harder and harder.

Going across the border is a great idea! But sometimes NC and SC schedules dont match up.
For a few years there we had the Battle of the Border. NC vs SC. I think it was Shelby/Crest/Polk vs 3 upstate teams. Even had it a Gardner Webb a couple years. Well worth looking into for the Cleveland Co. Jamboree.
York, Clover, Gaffney, Spartanburg maybe????

Agree, and then add in the fact that the smaller schools that might agree to come, have small rosters and they might not agree to go live kicking, the week before opening night.
Nobody wants to flip flop Conference opponents either.

Gas will be 5 dollars a gallon by August. Whose going to be able to afford to go anywhere?

Fair enough, but I still believe a border showcase like in the past would draw a larger crowd, a lot of experience, and of course more money. Cleveland County vs the SC, schools on our border of NC would be epic and close distance relatively speaking...I know, I know, Not that simple.

Time for NC School system to reach into their emergency budget and make the investment

one electric bus for each school in 2022, shools out east and in the mountains should get first dibs just for living in the nether regions of wildlings....

And I agree that a Border Showcase would be pretty cool, but like someone else said, NC teams and SC teams are at different phases of the preseason. I’ll admit that I’m not 💯 on the dates, but SC teams are ahead of NC with what they can do in the Spring and Contact in Aug. NC has barely been hitting when the Jam date comes up. IMO it’s a good warmup for NC teams to go against SC teams in a scrimmage but I’m not sure SC teams look at it the same way.
