Whenever PG opened, there were more than a few media outlets that would refer to them as "Climax Providence Grove". It always made me laugh. As if anyone knew where the heck Climax was.Hey don’t forget Coleridge!!!

Some students that reside in the outlying suburbs of Climax attend Southeast Guilford. I guess Providence Grove wanted to cash in on the Hollywoodness of Climax , Lineberry, and Red Cross.
Don’t forget Grays Chapel…
They almost had a DG go up there but…

Should be a very interesting game next Friday….

I'm not sure what those guys were thinking. I know that Climax has something to do with being the high point on one of the old train routes. As for the others, I'm willing to bet there was some good moonshine involved.

ER stands at 6-0 while PG comes in 5-1.
ER is averaging 33 points a game while only giving up 7. PG is averaging 38 points a game while giving up 15.
ER has beaten three 3A squads. PG is 2-1 against 3A squads.
Both teams have one common opponent: Asheboro. ER beat the Comets 49-7. PG beat the Comets 28-14.

Still a very good team. Just would have been a great piece to have. He's really off the grid though, cause usually you can find info on a major recruit like that.
Lazy this morning, don’t feel like looking it up, is ER in a 1A/2A conference or is the PG game just a late season non conference?
Only 1A teams in conference are ER and Uwharrie. Means ER will not play a 1A team until/if they make playoffs.
Entire conference is contained in Randolph county which I actually like. Makes for good/great gates while limiting travel.
ER is in a split conference. The only 1a team playing football in that conference.
It’s going to be a must see game! Calvin Brown has PG playing very well. ER has found a kicker and that might be the difference! ER 24 PG 21

I just got off the all-knowing MaxPreps. Over the years, PG trying to beat ER has been like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football. The Wildcats lead the all-time series 12-3. This includes three wins in the playoffs (2009, 2012, 2019).
PG hasn't beaten ER since 2015. The other two times PG won were during the Todd Shuping era (2009, 10). In fact, PG won the very first meeting ever between the two schools 35-34 (I witnessed that one).
The only year these two haven't played was the year PG opened (2008). That was the only year PG played in the Central Carolina conference.

I was there the last time ER beat orange/blue at roundabout. Baby boy was freshman 8 quarter at time. Couldn’t believe they threw out of own end zone with tie score and so little time left.

And everybody knows I don’t do scores but I honestly don’t see PG putting up that many points.

Just curious do you create a new profile each year to get us ER boys riled up? I guess Randleman couldn’t find a QB from Wheatmore to recruit or a RB from Asheboro! You really do not want to go down this road with pointing fingers! Cause the Handy recruiting pipeline was large!
I will say that my attempt of getting the sewer riled up was successful based on your overuse of exclamation points.
I'm not sure what he's doing now. Last I remember of him, he was coaching in Forsyth County. But that was a while back....
I believe his son, Richard, is in the coaching business now. Richard was the QB on those very first PG teams. He ended up playing for Catawba. He might have been the slowest D-2 recruit I've ever seen. But let me tell you.......that guy was an absolute WIZARD at running the triple option.

Going to be one of those 64 to 49 games I believe…
Should be a good one. Eastern's best test yet. Would like to see a good complete game from them. Don't know that there is a lot of hype locally. We don't make the polls. They're a pretty good all around team. Top 5 in 1A for sure. Beyond that I don't know. They have their moments.
