Should be a good one. Eastern's the best test yet. Would like to see a good complete game from them. Don't know that there is a lot of hype locally. We don't make the polls. They're a pretty good all around team. Top 5 in 1A for sure. Beyond that I don't know. They have their moments.
All excellent points…
I do however think Eastern Alamance was a pretty good team. Williams game was very close as well.
Hopefully tonight is not…

We were both right...
PG didn't get 20 and ER ran the fool out of it in second half. If yellow hankies had fallen out of pockets a couple more times might have had 400 yards rushing in last two quarters alone.
I think those refs were getting paid by the hold in the third quarter.

Well.......it was fun for PG while it lasted. Took that fumble and turned it into an 8-0 lead. The vibe right then reminded me of that one scene in Bloodsport when Jackson knocked Chong Li to the canvas and was jumping around saying "I got em! I got em!". Chong Li (ER) wiped the blood off his mouth, smiled, got up, and proceeded to deliver a butt-kicking.

As I expected, PG didn't have much of an answer for the ER ground attack. Lilly was marvelous tonight. His big run up the gut down to the PG two in the second half was a backbreaker. My favorite play though was when he caught that screen pass on the left side and weaved his way for the TD. Those lineman put on a clinic on how to get out front and block on that play.

Speaking of plays........so many big plays for the Wildcats. Delonte Glover's catch and run, DJ Thomas's catch and run, Devonte Brooks's pair of runs, Barwick's opening TD pass to Jake Fesmire, Lilly's run.

Poor PG was on the opposite end of the "big play paradigm" (for the most part). The fumble in the second quarter was huge. The incomplete ruling on the long bomb to Zander Cheek in the fourth was even bigger. That ruling might have changed the complexion of the game. That was a spectacular throw from Luke Thomas.

Continued.....

PG did have one awesome play. In the second half, Thomas hit Chase Whitaker in stride over the middle on a quick hitter. Whitaker then proceeded to turn on the jets and fly down the field for the TD. His burst of speed really surprised me. I thought he was going to get caught around the 10.

Thomas also hit Zander Cheek with a nice dart for that first score.

PG had a horrible night on special teams. That didn't do them any favors either.

I was actually a little disappointed in the crowd tonight. Don't get me wrong.....it was a great crowd. I just thought there would be a lot more people. Actually didn't see anyone parked on the side of the road as I left. Pre-game festivities were pretty cool though.

Just saying Providence Grove is not as strong a 2A school as their record shows. However, ER strength of schedule may get them the #1 spot. Just have to play the rest of the games to find out. Thomasville is who some of us are watching as well.
Thomasville will be interesting I think in playoffs...
I believe ER SOS is even very good in that Simmons fellows rankings (think it is 3rd even though I also believe he is the only ranking that has ER #2 for some reason?)...
PG may possibly surprise you in 2A playoffs depending on the draw they get...

The PG passing attack will be tough for a lot of teams to deal with in the playoffs. Not many at the lower classifications are going to have Easterns size and strength and be able to control the LOS like they did. I think PG will do well and have certainly been well tested along the way. Wish Eastern had Ledford on the schedule that would have been a good one.

PG is a very good team. If they get a good draw they may win a game in the playoffs, possibly two if they get a great draw.
