Fresh off a bye week Clinton back in action this upcoming Friday heading down to Wilmington for our first meeting with 4A Hoggard...Hoggard is 1-3 but those loses have came against some solid teams...my prediction Clinton pulls out a tough one

Clinton 22 Hoggard 14

Clinton by 2 touchdowns. Clinton has to stop the run. Hoggard is capable in the short passing game but questionable throwing downfield. They were playing 2 QBs.
Not sure Hoggard is as strong defensively as they want you to believe. Down 3.of their preseason starters on including their best linebacker. Hopefully Clinton can run inside against the Vikings. Skinner could have a big night.

Clinton should win this Friday just too fast for Hoggard. Do not understand why this game has so much hype

It all depends on what happens up front if O line gives Skinner in company the room to run then our offense can play with anyone......also with the difference in numbers its important to get up early Hoggard has way more depth being a 4A school.....if Faison returns this week it will help out but I think the big freshman fullback is going to help out big time the rest of the year

Last year Hoggard was s 4A eastern finalist. They've had a slow start but the school has been twice the size of Clinton or more . StilI I like the DarkHorses' chances!

Not sure what you mean by this. I am the only one who has boasted about Hoggards D. Their 3 starters lost have really hurt, however their D line is solid and they have played well against the run. Knowing what Clinton likes to do I think Hoggard has a good chance to win. The offense has moved the ball but penalties have killed drives. Hoggard is 1-3, but they could easily be 3-1. They throw a TD pass with 4 mins left against 71st( A top 15 4A team) down 12-7 only to have it called back for holding. PF was gassed near the end of the 3rd with Hoggard driving up 2TD. Then a 45 min delay and PF comes back fresh and another penalty keeps the VIkes out of the end zone and then a missed FG on a wet field. PF fights back and hits a 70 yards pass late in the 4th qrt, that was batted down by Hoggard which fell into the hands of a WR for the game winning TD. Hoggard also had the ball on the CC 30 down 20-10 but threw an int. I feel 71st and CC deserved to win those games but those are the games Hoggard usually finds a way to win. All those things count, this team has to learn how to finish and how to play clean(penalties). The coaching staff has to learn how to get this team prepared to do those things. I feel they will, I hope it starts this Friday.

You being the only one that normally posts about Hoggard and you being the one that boasts about how strong Hoggard's D is then it appears you are the one that wants us to believe how strong they are. I haven't seen any other posts from Hoggard fans questioning the strength of their D. Sorry if you took offense to my statement.

I think this is the game Skinner has been waiting for...he has been under recruited and pretty much looked over even after the great season he had last year and what he has done in two games this season with a brand new offensive line.....against a 4A school with a solid defensive unit I think if Skinner goes for 200+ and mulitple TDs leading Clinton to a win.....ECU,UNC,NC State,Duke, and Wake Forest better be on the phone with Coach Lewis Saturday morning offering this kid a scholarship.

Well say Portcity FB said it not Hoggard. I am not the team and I don't represent the team. I have my opinion and I stick by what I said. Going into the season I was excited with what we had coming back and if we had not lost three starters I think we may very well be 3-1if not 4-0. We lost our fastest CB and fastest LB. we have not been able to replace that speed.

There is a JV game tonight at Clinton right??? I plan on attending have not seen the JV yet this year...weird schedule they have only played one game so far....with Faison back I wonder will they keep freshman fullback monster Jaylen Smith on varsity or move him back down......does not hurt having that depth at fullback especially with that EB defense coming to town in two weeks

My barometer for this game will be simple, if Hoggard can run the ball for about 200-250 yards they can keep it close. 9 of 10 games the darkhorses win this matchup. If the Vikes pass more than 15 times they lose.

I think the complete opposite. If Clinton can run and not have to pass they win. I think hoggard will move the ball. They will have to score TDs tonight and cut out the penalties. I doubt Clinton is better than 71st or CC defensively and Hoggard moved the ball. They make a lot of safe simple passes that aren't much more than a sweep. It doesn't matter if they throw 10 times or 18 times if it's working. Hoggard may be down a few more def players tonight. They will have their hands full for sure.

New Hanover and Hoggard are no joke the last few years. South Columbus has played both of them in the BB&T Jamboree and had a 5 year regular season series with Hoggard. They are tough for any 2A team to beat when they are playing at their full potential. Is Hoggard a lot bigger than Clinton??

Sounds like by the length of their offensive drives they are just pounding us upfront

That's what it sounds like 34. Someone else mentioned that Hoggards passing game is typically better than smaller schools. If Hoggard's passing game is anywhere near the way it has been the last couple of years, they don't have to wait till it is necessary to throw like most 2A schools. Our secondary doesn't see that kind of passing attack very often so they are uncomfortable with it. Be interesting to see how Dark Horses come out in the 2nd half.

Great game tonight. Hoggard was sharp in the first half and ran well against the Darkhorses. Hoggard was really not any bigger than Clinton. Our 2 TE are big and our FB is very good and they were creating some holes. Clinton couldn't get anything going in the first half. Skinner broke loose once on a great run. Clinton showed a lot of heart fighting back in the second half and got back into the game. I mentioned I didn't think Clinton would run all over Hoggard between the tackles and they didn't. When Clinton got the edge they had some big gains and they also hit some wide open guys on some nice pass plays. I thought Hoggards play calls were very conservative in the second half. Good luck to Clinton the rest of the way.

I really misjudged Hoggard! Good team but the Horses could have played better!!
Hoggard could have played better too. Blocked FG, missed FG, dropped wide open TD pass. Good call, Clinton by 4 TD. Show no respect, get no respect.
