Clinton vs Hoggard

With Clinton coming off of a huge win against Northside-Jacksonville, the Vikings make the drive up US421 to C-town. I have seen Hoggard play against Holly Springs, and in that game the Vikings had trouble stopping the run. Clinton showed its depth at RB versus the Monarchs this past Friday. Thoughts on this game??

Honestly? DarkHorse win in a blowout. If Hoggard couldn't stop Holly Springs rushing attack they don't have a chance at stopping the DarkHorses multifaceted running attack and who knows s pass or two may be thrown. They can throw the ball if necessary!

Hoggards record may trick u but all the games they lost were by a few points....but have heard they struggle stopping the run.....As long as we execute on offense we should be fine.....honestly I think our defense is just growing in confidence game by game don't see anyone scoring too many points on us.....Clinton is riding high but we don't need a emotional let down after a big win last night.....Bob Lewis won't allow it Clinton comes in hitting on all cylinders and we go into conference play undefeated

Like I stated earlier, I did see them play and that one back from Holly Springs dropped 375 yards on them. I think we won't have any trouble moving the ball against them. They run the spread like the other teams, the main two to watch out for is their QB(6'4 and mobile) and Tony Allen #23. I think Clinton avenges one of their losses from last year.

We didnt complete a single pass (that counted) and won against a team that loved to throw it around. Our D is for real. Offense I'm sure wished they could be a little more balanced, but hey if u can't stop it, you can't stop it, why try to fix what ain't broke? Go horses! #dontneedtopasstowin.

Hoggard will have trouble stopping the run and will fight till the end but does not have the firepower that Clinton has therefore I would be surprised if it's a blowout early but instead a slow painful beating.

I think Friday night our pass options were limited NS Jax had the box stacked but there safties had decent depth and I don't think Lewis wanted to risk a pass being picked off especially with tall #5 back there playing safety.....but the way we ran the ball it was no need to.....we do have a ace....we have yet to show anyone outside of the jamboree our spread offense which looked really good when we ran it in the jamboree

Don't think it will be a blow out but I do think Clinton will win....still we are without Prentice Murphy and that speed and experience coming off the edge on defense can't simply be replaced even though the defense didn't miss a beat last Friday..... Hoggard does have some weapons on offense the QB two strong RBs Rashad Wallace and Tony Allen...Allen gashed us a couple times last year for big runs and I believe they still have that big TE/FB #98 so we can't come out expecting it to be easy

All 3 of Hoggard losses have been by a combined 7 points. Their record is deceptive. Think we'll take care of business but it would be nice if 88 were there to add some pressure.

Is it really deceptive? If a team is losing close games ... Does that mean they have problems finishing? At some point they are going to have to overcome that. In the word of Bill Parcells "You are what your record says you are". Last week it seemed they were going to get over that, but a missed extra point cost them an opportunity. Their defense finally showed up, but their explosive offense seemed to sputter until late. Clinton (from what a lot of you say on here) seems to have had this game circled on the schedule and looking forward to knocking off a 4A school. Clinton seems to have put it all the together, while Hoggard is figuring it all out. Hoggard is not helpless although they are 1-3 and have weapons to move the ball. Hoggard was 1-3 last year when they played and won the game. Clinton's run game would scare me if I was Hoggard and this game will be close. The question is will Hoggard be able to win a close game?

Defense looks real real nice. Expect Clinton to make some noise this year. A lot of it.

Last year Hoggard was 1-3 heading into this game. They lost a close close game on the road to 71st. They lost on the road to a very good Char Christian team and lost on a hail mary pass to Pine Forest. This team is a lot different. Hoggard did get gashed on the ground against HS but they have made improvements. They gave up 389 to HS, 267 to 71st, 175 to PF, CF had less than 175. Hoggard played its best half of FB last year against Clinton and it was just enough. The win turned their season around and they went 6-2 the rest of the way. If the game would have lasted another 5 mins I think Clinton would have completed the comeback. I could see where Clinton fans and players and coaches feel they let one slip away and would want a bit of payback.
Hoggard is dealing with a handful of injuries to key players. The Vikes backs are against the wall and they will be looking for the same kind of turn around. However this is a fragile team right now. I am not sure how they will respond. They may play their best game of the season or they may hit the wall. Hoggard use to win games with special teams and now they are losing games. They have missed an extra point in every game. They lost 28-26 to PF and had to go for 2 because of a missed XP. They missed a chip shot FG and and XP against CF. They have also given up big plays on KO. PF had a return for a TD. Hoggard could easily be 4-0 heading into this game but they aren't and I just don't know how mentally tough this team is yet. Hoggard will have to play lights out to win this one with all their injuries.

Last year Clinton went into the Hoggard game having played only 1 game. They did not play an endowment game had a open date. Hoggard had played 3 games already. I think in the game it took until halftime for the DarkHorses to get their game legs and get into the flow of the game but they still almost pulled off the comeback. As someone already posted if the game had lasted 5 more minutes Clintion may have won the game. This season the DarkHorses have played 3 games the past 3 weeks. I look for them to be well into the game at kickoff.

Wiz let's not forget Clinton had 4 turnovers and several I mean several offensive procedural penalties. Our QB is more experienced and our Oline is more experienced. Penalties have been down this year and we are playing good, not saying we are gonna dominate or even win the game but it won't be like last year in terms of sloppy play on our part.

Yes that true but I think all that added into the Horses had only 1 game under their belt. Now the will have much more momentum

We did have two games under our belt last year SWO and SS but playing those two then having a bye probably did hurt us we were really sluggish that 1st half last year vs Hoggard...... Think things will be different and its a home game so you know the dark horse faithful will have it rocking

We were tested against Northside and we responded we took a punch in the mouth early when they marched right down the field and scored plus the 2 point conv but the team was resilient and punched right back.....this is a different team mentally I keep raving about that defense and Its only going to get better once #88 is back

Darkhorses appear to be very talented and have plenty of depth and seem intent on getting some revenge for the game last year they feel slipped thru their fingers, bad news for the Vikings. Hoggard still talented but I just don't see enough of it, especially with several injuries, to hang with Clinton. I would have to say Clinton BIG is this one, but that 's why they play the game.

I agree. The defense has come together quite nicely and once #88 is reinserted the Dark Horses could be really impressive. Barring injuries (knock on wood x3), I can see the defense getting the ball to that high scoring offense a lot. Should be a great deal of fun this year.

You are correct we had 2 weak opponent games and then the open date before the Hoggard game. I think the open date hurt us. This year having played 3 games and having played a strong opponent in Northside will help us .

I thought the JV would be on the road since the Varsity is playing at home Friday.

Hoggard JV have not been very impressive this year. I don't think it will be a good bar to judge.
I'm a little surprised with some of the predictions. Hoggard lost to a top 25 team in Pine Forest by 2 on the road and two special team mistakes cost them a win. They beat a very big and athleteic 71ST team by 11. They lost to 20th ranked 5A south carolina team by 1 by missing an extra poin and a chip shot FG. If Hoggard throws the ball downfield with success they will have a good chance to win. Hoggard run defense has improved each week and hopefully that will continue. Looking for a great slugfest. I think Clinton will be favored by 5 -7.

Clinton fans ... Would you feel different about your predictions if Hoggard was 4-0? Hoggard has played three 4A schools and a 5A school (Carolina Forest) and has won or have had an opportunity to win the games (had the ball towards the end of the game) in all their games so far. We are talking about a solid 4A football team/program. Clinton has played two 2A schools and a winless 3A school. Northside has been the only test for Clinton so far and Clinton came out on top. You guys are killing me thinking that Clinton is going to roll over Hoggard. Yes. They have had a difficult time stopping their opponents, but they do enough to give their team a chance to win. I don't know who will win and don't have a dog in the fight, but it's silly to think the Dark Horses are going to mud hole stomp Hoggard. Good luck to Clinton on Friday night, but don't expect a two to three touchdown victory.

Holly Springs is anything but a 4A power. That running back ran for over 300 yards, that alone gives us confidence. I also believe that this game will be closer than most on here are predicting but the horses should win this. These guys haven't forgotten about last years game either.

Is it a crime to be confident about your school???...we have a pretty darn good team if Clinton was to win by 2-3 scores it would not surprise anyone who has seen them play.......but honestly I don't care how many points we win by just want to see a "W"
